“A man of black skin with a pure white heart”

I never watch the news on television but was told that during yesterday’s TVM news broadcast at 8pm, Martin Luther King was described as “a man of black skin with a pure white heart”.
Can anybody else confirm this?
Yesterday was the 50th anniversary of his famous address during the march on Washington.

You are right. The PBS feature ended with these words “Martin Luther King kien deskritt bhala il-bniedem iswed b’qalb bajda u safja”.

The broadcast uses these words “Il- bniedem iswed b-qalb bajda u safja.”
Terrible.
Inappropriate for sure, but probably not intended as a racist comment. I think what they meant with “bajda” was “clear” or “untarnished”. Still they could have stuck to one adjective had they been even conscious of the risk.
The comment might not have been intended to be racist but it is still a most stupid one, particularly in the current local context.
Whose idea was it to ascribe colour to what is best in human values? Or was it an inadvertent expression of a latent racist trait?
What moron believes that a black man is not good enough to speak with his own heart? How arrogant.
According to Norman Lowell. Aryans with a pure white heart. are the benchmark to be reached by all other inferior races.
This comment must have slipped under Reno Bugeja’s radar or was he the author ?
How dare TVM insinuate that the capacity for love and purity is related to one’s skin tone?
They’ve insulted one of the most important figures of human history.
I guess from now on let’s expect anything and everything.

Not to defend TVM, but I think it was a case of shoddy execution so I don’t believe there was a perverse or twisted meaning behind that poor script writing.
Do not expect any better from Reno Bugeja.
