A progressive Labour woman’s definition of the purpose of women

No wonder Amanda Mifsud thinks that the best way to get ahead is to hitch your wagon to somebody else’s (“important” – tabib u politiku) husband.
Look at her definition of what women are for.

Eff off Amanda.
Also, I do not need a day dedicated me. Thank you very much.
Unlike you and others I do not consider myself a minority just because I’m a woman.
Actually you’re in a majority if you are a woman.
It’s women like her who milk the myth of the weaker sex while controlling the men in their life with an iron fist.
As individuals they do not amount to much so they find a man who will help them get ahead.
That was traditional some 25 years ago. Times have progressed and so have women. If ‘some women’ knew something about the progressive world, they’d understand that women who rely on men, are living in the distant past.
Women who still rely on men to get ahead, are sort of 25 years behind time.
That thing is so incorrect in this day and age. And please allow me an LOL, really!
Do you mean second class-citizen?
But you’re right, women’s day feels so patronising and that is not all. Days dedicated to men are also patronising towards the assumed weaker sex. In the recent past worker’s day was mainly dedicated to the men who work to maintain their family. In communist countries men still have soldier’s day, where children give flowers to soldiers and dads, as ask to be protected. In india there’s Raksha Bandhan, where the big brother vows to protect all his female sisters and cousins. The spirit of these feasts is just men patronising women.
We still live in the middle ages.
The economy seems to have jammed up.
The situation needs to be addressed. Facebook time-wasters aren’t going to create jobs, work and employment.
And Joseph Muscat has a clear and uncontested record to break that of 2,300 jobs created in the previous 5 years by the great statesman Dr Gonzi – GonziPN.
In her “crieki” most probably.
She should have also said that “the perfect wife cooks like a Michelin starred cook, takes care of kids like Mary Poppins and is a whore in bed”.
You’re not going to win any Perfect Husband awards with remarks like that.
La Redoute, don’t you ever get it? I was referring to a 50s mentality!
Why not – it is a sensible wish list. My other half probably subconsiously expects a stud in bed, a good cook, a hard worker with a diamond thief’s income, the heart of Ghandi – all whilst appearing as a normal husband.
Speak for yourself, I’m a total bitch. Also, I have a job, and I’m a bitch at that too.
In the meantime the government is using our money to rent different cars for its ministerial fleet (GM plates) every week.
You couldn’t have explained the (generalised) situation of the Maltese mentality better. This is best exemplified by the Labour Party which considers itself as avant-garde, modern (post-modern even), emancipated, progressive and ‘cool’ (whatever that means).
Is that what Minister Mizzi had in mind when he said theat Arriva will have a Maltese management with a ‘Maltese mentality’ – I wonder what is the definition of a ‘Maltese mentality’ – no rude answers please.
I won’t dare define THE Maltese mentality because obviously there is more than one. But several scholars have noted that since pre-history we developed as a matriarchal society and an insular one at that.
[Daphne – Well, yes, our langauge doesn’t even have a word for father, but only for mother: omm. Missier is just a corruption of ‘monsieur’.]
It could be that in our “collective subconscious” we are continually craving for protection of all types and in all spheres of life. Time (25 years or more) doesn’t come into it because many people (perhaps too many) prefer living in the past, with its traditions, prejudices and contradictions.
Labour, despite its ‘revolutionary’ image, (with Mintoff in particular), can be viewed as the typical patronising “mother/father” image. Seen in this light Labour’s ‘enfante terrible’ attitude and behaviour is just that – a tantrum to attract more ‘motherly’ attention and not a sign of growing up and taking life in your own hands.
Heck, even the word for water (and symbolically the life force) is matriarchal- Ilma
Something is not making sense. How is it that she lives in Zejtun and voted in Burmarrad? Or was she carrying out duties as an Assistant Electoral Commissioner? I do not think that they were allowed to use their mobile phones.
She left out ‘spunk bucket’.
That explains why she’s permanently glued to Farrugia’s side. She obviously believes she’s nothing without him, not that she’s much of anything with him.
Half a loaf is better than none, in their mindset.
I know her. She is loud, uncouth, pompous and a chav.
I know him – and he’s a good man (qalbu tajba). I know about ‘go tell that to his ex-wife’ etc etc but not everyone who separates is a monster.
Well, she IS a friend of Jeff and Carmen, isn’t she?
Honestly, some women have such low self-esteem that no wonder we have so many chauvinistic men.
I don’t need to be defined, thank you very much. I’m me and that’s it. Do we have Men’s Day? Then we don’t need Women’s Day.
Tell that to his wife.
How is it that many pretty women over 30 cling to men older than they are? Is it because they look for famous/rich people or because they haven’t found someone their own age who is compatible with them?
No, it’s because she thinks Michael Farrugia is mlahhaq and that status will rub off on her. It certainly isn’t because of his looks.
In the best Labour tradition, Amanda Mifsud has simply copied and pasted those corny phrases from a hundred other Facebook statuses or from websites such as these:
