The Armed Forces of Malta’s PRO, Lieutenant Keith Caruana, used to be international secretary of the Far Right political party (now defunct), Azzjoni Nazzjonali.

In that role in 2008, he had described asylum-seekers, on television, as “a bunch of criminals”. His political party accepted responsibility for the statement and paid the fine.

The matter was reported in Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for 2008 compiled and published by the US State Department.

Excellent journalism, you’ve always set the bar high. I doubt any heads will roll though.

Ah, at last a ‘transparent’ individual, representing the ‘Armed Forces of Malta’, presents his view on the African invasion.

And he cannot be dismissed, because the ‘navy’ is overstretched in its efforts to save immigrants from drowning in the territorial waters and in taking Germans on boat excursions.

I’m sure they asylum seekers have thanked Muscat profusely deep in their hearts for getting rid of them.

Their destination was Italy and not Malta. Once in Italy, their asylum is guaranteed for ever. Italy is a bankrupped state. There is no money for the repatriation of the illegal imigrants so they will remain in Italy for ever.

  5. This is the sort of comment that the Opposition should take up with government and the minister who considered this person fit for a commission in the armed forces, and to be their official spokesperson.

Does the minister responsible know what is the meaning of public relations?

    Perversity is becoming the norm.

In 2008, he graduated with a BA in Criminology -he should’ve known what is constituted a criminal offence and what not.

Norman Lowell was his hero at that time.
