Can you imagine, say, Marin Hili or Mark Portelli tweeting and Facebooking about the hundreds of ‘prosits’ they received for their appointment?

You’ve got a link to the new Freeport Corporation CEO’s Twitter account down there, so that you can follow him if you wish. Should be entertaining. You never know, he might tweet about his board meetings with Freeport Corporation director and ex-Lorry Sant thug and fixer Ronnie Pellegrini and Freeport Corporation company secretary Byron Camilleri, ex Forum Zghazagh Laburisti ‘elve’ and currently Labour mayor of Fgura.

Malta Freeport Corporation – it’s just like a family business, isn’t it.

Aaron Farrugia claims to have been congratulated by officials of all three parties. I hope to God nobody from the PN really expressed trust and confidence in him.

This would be hilarious were it not so tragic.

    “Il-mijjiet (sic) ta’ messaggi…”

Hmm, the elves have been busy once again.

The thing is that in such cases you have to preempt the mijiet ta’ messaggi, by first posting something related to your appointment or passing from an exam or having a baby etc, and then people start sending you messages.

Aaron here is actually thanking people for the messages they haven’t started sending yet, and then feels the need to post something similar again later on to see everyone answering him.

I used to have Facebook and I used to deliberately avoid posting such statuses. It’s one of the many reasons I decided to close my account.

What is a “messagg ta’ fiducja”? I see the phrase being used all the time but I’ve never managed to figure out what it means, exactly. Is it like “il-poplu”, “dahru miftuh” or “jinsulenta”?

Is the Freeport not a private enterprise? How is it that government is involved in appointing its personnel?

[Daphne – Malta Freeport is operated by a private company. Malta Freeport Corporation is the regulator, and it is a state entity.]
