A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. The shame of this is that Lara Boffa was promoted 1) because of her surname and 2) because she’s a woman.
She disgraces the former and sets back the latter by decades, proving that in Malta the old stereotype stands true: that brains are not necessary in a woman who is more than willing to get on by other means, which are not necessarily the obvious but which are also abusive. And yes, totally unwarranted tokenism is one of them.

Yes, but she is “proud of it”, after all.
Advice for Lara Boffa, which she could have Googled for herself once she was online:

Incidentally, if she can’t handle questions about her fitness for her job and her means of getting into it, how is she going to handle tough questions from the international media about Malta’s handling of its international agreements, its use or abuse of international finance, and the desirability or otherwise of its international partnerships?
Marakexx or bust.
Why settle on one when you can have both?

Il-huta minn rasa tinten. Now how can you expect the government to appoint qualified and capable people to key positions? They will inevitably end up questioning the capabilities of their superiors, including cabinet ministers.
Including the Prime Minister’s too.
Which qualified and capable person would accept any appointment from this incompetent and abusive lot?
