Exactly why would Police Minister Manuel Mallia put a TV show-girl and a beautician on the state’s street-naming committee?

By this point it’s safe to assume qualifications practically mean nothing anymore here.
Gear up for plenty of streets called Triq Dom Mintoff.
U triq is-Salvatur.
Soon we will have at least one street named after every kind of cat in every town in Malta. And maybe a street named after different parts of the body as well.
Triq is-Seks
Misrah is-Srum
Vjal il-Libertini
Pjazza Marrakesh
Triq l-Erotomani Maltin
Sqaq Nru. 69 fi Triq it-Tbandil
…and Triq il-Pussies.
Misrah il-Botox
Triq l-Implants
Vjal l-14 ta’ Frar
Oliver Friggieri must be delighted with the Change. I used to respect and even admire him, but he’s shown himself to be just as ridiculous as the rest of his beloved countrymen.
You can kiss goodbye to Tris Balzunetta, Professor.
Triq il-hudu go fikhom immigranti? Why not?
Triq Manu Maltes
Insejt ‘Gnien il-Pastizzi tal-Incova a le Serkin’ Baxx
Maybe a couple of new “Stada Stretta” given that one of the members thinks it must have been so fun to live there in its heyday?
Joe Hales is an illiterate Labour Councillor in Zejtun. I doubt it if he remembers his own address let alone is able to give a contribution in the Street Naming Committee.
Class, class and still more class. We DO live in interesting times.
Mela ghal kull item f’agenda noholqu kumitat ? Eh nahseb li dik hija r-roadmap…..biex hadd ma jibqa’ l-art.
hey what about Triq is-Sriedaq
Because they come up with pretty names.
Street naming committee? Didn’t know we had one.
Why does a street naming committee have to have so many people?
It’s hardly rocket science.
Three people at the most should be more than enough.
Michael Balzia used to carry out searches on door renumbering, and street names, so I suppose he does have a certain level of experience in this category, but for the rest, please, give us a break.
I think that any decisions re street naming in towns should fall totally within within the remits of local councils.
No surprise really:

Brilliant. With Joe Hales on the committee we can rest assured that every town in Malta will have a main street named after il-kbir u mibki Duminku Mintoff. He tried that last year by putting forward a motion in the Zejtun council to have triq Sant’Agata in Zejtun renamed for that old fart, only for his motion to be shot down by his fellow Labour councillors.

Maybe because she dresses like a street walker?
Triq lis-Switchers, Triq it-Tradituri, Triq Gellied is-Sriedak, Triq il-Laghqa…
Ten people to name streets! How about that for Simplification and Reduction of Bureaucracy.
Nispera li jsibu erbgha ismijiet suret in-nies.
Some years ago someone decided to change the name of Trejqet il-Bajja (Bay Junction) in St. Julian’s to Triq Alfred Gauci. Couldn’t they leave things as they were and name a new road after this person? There is no point in changing names of streets. It causes only inconvenience.
