Instead of sending an ambassador to Australia, Malta has found one who has lived there all his life: ‘Mr Charles’ of Mr Charles Menswear in Canberra
From the website of the Maltese ambassador to (sorry, already IN) Australia:
Based in Canberra, Mr Charles Menswear is a family run business who specialize in quality suiting and accessories for all occasions. Backed by a wealth of knowledge garnered over fifty years you can expect professional service.
Our Woden and Canberra City stores Stock a wide range of well known and reputable brands including Cambridge, Studio Italia, Gibson and Dom Bagnato. Whether it’s a wedding, black tie, formal or a day at the office, Mr Charles will have the perfect suit for you.
“The smooth, unbroken line of a well fitted suit or shirt is the centerpiece of a well dressed mans appearance, and other efforts will be wasted without it.”

So he will be dressing the whole lot of them soon.
Ma giex ghalxejn Malta fil-gimgha ta l-elezzjoni.
Are you serious? Am I missing something?
In line with the liberal and progressive stance of the ‘Malta Taghna (Biss)’ new government, the role of Malta’s ambassadors, according to the (septuagenarian) Foreign Minister, is to promote Malta’s investment and business potential.
In my opinion, this choice of Mr. Charles Muscat, together with that of Dr. Albert Friggieri (ambassador for Germany), were the best choices for Malta’s ambassadors. Unlike the choices of DJ Norman, bands’ lover Ray Azzopardi and the rest.
There are at least four mistakes in that promotional text.
‘Our Woden and Canberra City stores Stock a wide range of well known and reputable brands including Cambridge, Studio Italia, Gibson and Dom Bagnato.’
Wot? No Bortex?? tut tut…
No Bortex sorry , but they stock Ambassador shirts.
Probably running a failing business. Most of these businesses in the UK are closing down.
The Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which regulates these issues, is not to keen on diplomats serving in a country of which they are nationals:
Article 8
1.Members of the diplomatic staff of the mission should in principle be of the nationality of the
sending State.
2.Members of the diplomatic staff of the mission may not be appointed from among persons
having the nationality of the receiving State, except with the consent of that State which may be
withdrawn at any time.

Nahseb li meta Anglu Farrugia, fid-dibattitu ma’ Simon Busuttil kien qal li Malta tinsab wara l-Kolumbja fil-lista tal-korruzzjoni kien qieghed ibassar tajjeb, ghax ghal hemm mexjin.
Possibli li m’hemmx Laburisti li huma career diplomats?
Why are they doing this? Why are they finding the strangest and most unsuitable people to place as ambassadors?
Is it because they have no one else to ask? Could it be possible that of all the 36,000 voters who decided to switch over, there are none with diplomatic experience or at least a background in international relations?
It seems they have hit the bottom of the dark pit of wanna be’s.All the poster people have been given a post and there is nothing left to dredge up from the pit……..
For all the individuals who are accepting these posts, I say ‘Shame on you ‘ because you know you are not qualified to handle such responsabilties but your greed for power and fame turns you into an imbecile who wants to believe in someone else’s misguided choice.
So grab the opportunity you poor imbecile because no one else in your life is ever gonna give you this same chance again – while we watch you make a fool of yourself and our country. How sad.
