MISTRA ALERT: Michael Farrugia’s girlfriend was maid of honour at Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando’s second wedding
Around four years ago, Labour MP Michael Farrugia left his wife for a woman called Amanda Mifsud, who is now his acknowledged consort.
He was given somewhere to live, during that transient period, by a man who made his money as a bookie and who invested some of it in a rather impressive development in Wardija. I’m told that he didn’t take any rent, but it might turn out to be a worthwhile investment, for Michael Farrugia is now parliamentary secretary for the Malta Environment and Planning Authority.
But that’s a side note. This is the actual story. Amanda Mifsud’s closest friend was and is Carmen Ciantar, who married Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando last August.

A few months later, Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando gave a ‘surprise’ testimonial for Michael Farrugia as part of the Labour Party’s electoral campaign.
The press gave this testimonial the ‘wow’ factor and not one of us bothered to look beyond and say, “Well, you would, wouldn’t you, Dr Pullicino Orlando? Your wife and his girlfriend are inseparable. Michael Farrugia’s girlfriend was maid of honour at your wedding.”
We also overlooked the significance of Pullicino Orlando’s walking out of parliament accompanied by Michael Farrugia after causing trouble as an ‘independent’ MP, when what he had really done was crossed the floor without crossing the floor.
After the Labour victory and prime minister Muscat’s ceremonial entrance to the Auberge de Castille accompanied by Jeffrey and Carmen Pullicino Orlando and her daughter, Pullicino Orlando and Michael Farrugia – the former still wearing those orange trousers – were photographed celebrating together at (of course) the Labour chav haven Medasia in Gzira.
The significance of all this will not have escaped you, but I shall spell it out all the same. Michael Farrugia is now the parliamentary secretary responsible for planning and the environment, with the Malta Environment and Planning Authority under his full control through the stooge he has just recruited as CEO, Johan Buttigieg, a man he describes as his “eyes and ears”.
And Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando still has a large tract of land in a green area at Mistra, which he still wants to develop into a nightclub. Oh sorry, my mistake, his friend Dominic Micallef Jnr wants to develop it into a nightclub.

Carmen wears a virginal white dress and her maid of honour carries a virginal white bouquet to mark the union of a middle-aged, previously married mother of a grown-up daughter with a middle-aged, previously married father of three grown-up children.
And the portly middle-aged husband and his useful friend, the portly, balding middle-aged lover of the maid-of-honour, hang out at a nightclub to celebrate, what, exactly? Yet another fantasy that they’re the new generation?

I can confirm that Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando, Michael Farrugia and their lady friends were dining together at a fish restaurant in Valletta, last October, a few tables away from mine.
Back then, for a moment it was a bit of a surprise to me, knowing that they were on opposite sides of the house, so to speak. A case of two middle-aged morons who are still thinking that the future is theirs.
Except for JPO, I am not really bothered what any of the people mentioned here did or did not do. They are PL supporters and if they acted in the interest of the party they support, so be it.
As for JPO, the word which persistently comes to mind every time I read anything about him is ‘traitor’. He used the position given to him by PN voters to undermine the PN in government.
He back-stabbed the Prime Minister, who he was politically and morally bound to support. No amount of grandiose posturing will erase that.
