The intellectually challenged and abusively employed public relations officer of the Malta Council for Science and Technology releases a statement on Facebook

Lara Boffa on Facebook, in response to my perfectly legitimate questions about why she was given a salaried job at the Malta Council for Science and Technology, without a competitive selection process, and for which she is patently unsuitable and unqualified:

I will just ignore her. I will ignore her so hard that she will doubt her own existence. She should understand that to insult me I would first have to value her, or her opinion.

Arrogant, stupid, ignorant, abusive, and with blatant disregard for correct procedure and the interests and image of the state council she now represents – in other words, typically Labour, so will you all please stop expressing your surprise that she sold her unprincipled soul to Joseph Muscat and Dom Mintoff despite the latter having stabbed her grandfather in the back, destroyed him politically, broken his spirit and then spread the slander that he had committed incest with his daughter (to aid in his political destruction) just because they shared a hotel room to save money.

The fact of the matter is that because of the unnatural generation gap between the unscrupulous Lara Boffa and her father (which was of more than two generations rather than just the one), there is no way she could ever have known – and hence loved – her grandparents. Paul Boffa died in 1962, many years before Lara was born. When his widow campaigned against Mintoff and for Fenech Adami in 1981, Lara was in nappies or barely out of them.

As to how Lady Boffa’s son’s widow – Lara’s mother – ended up doing the very opposite of her mother-in-law and campaigning for Mintoff-worshipper Muscat in his electoral tent, along with her daughter, I won’t hazard to go anywhere near the familial dynamics of that. It might just turn out to be yet another of those stories as old as time.

Ms. Boffa criticises your not getting facts straight on FB, because – she claims – you say Paul Boffa is her grandfather and not her great-grandfather.

I say she should get HER facts straight and read your comment properly. You spoke about the age/generation gap and not about the actual familial relation between her and Paul Boffa.

    How embarrassing (for her).

    • Pandora says:

Sorry, other way round: she thinks you claim Boffa is her great-grandfather when in fact he is her grandfather.

Now was this her reply to the article on the Times of Malta…

It is interesting to note that the article written by the ‘veteran jounalist’ and published by ToM was done so prior to Malta being part of the EU, and thus Article 10 of the EU Convention was not pertinent to this case. If I’m not mistaken, I believe that local legislation had been passed after. I encourage Mr Mizzi to be more careful when he publicly gets his thoughts down on paper.

I think she needed to get the facts right! Exactly as to the reply by Mr Raymond Sammut

    @ Lara Boffa

How do you mean “Article 10 of the EU Convention”? What are you talking about? There is no EU involvement in this case.

The report above refers to “a violation of Article 10”; that is, the decision of the Maltese Civil Courts violated Mr Mizzi’s right to freedom of expression as stipulated in The European Convention on Human Rights.

Malta ratified the European Convention on Human Rights in 1967.

Mr Mizzi lodged the application with the European Court of Human Rights on 4 March 2010. All persons, groups of persons, and companies from States Parties to the Convention are eligible to lodge applications in accordance with legal advice.

All the relevant information is available in PDFs published online by the ECHR, Council of Europe. For example, one can google “Mizzi ECHR”.

To me it seems that it is you, Lara Boffa, who needs to be “more careful when publicly getting one’s thoughts down on paper.” Please check your facts before setting the tone of your comment.

Very interesting indeed, she could have easily checked her facts alright.

A lot of people think that the ECHR/ECtHR/Council of Europe and the EU are the same thing.

Clearly, the lady is one of them.
