If you didn’t want Mintoffians behaving like Mintoffians in government, you shouldn’t have helped put them in power. Too damn late, now.

Some people I know examine the white goods they purchase more closely than the political parties they vote for. You'd think that a washing-machine could do more damage than a government.

The basic defining characteristic of Mintoffianism was not corruption, violence and human rights abuses, but that those who were in charge behaved as though they were accountable to nobody. The rest, the aforementioned, grew out of that.

It was beyond obvious that the thought pattern hadn’t changed and it became especially obvious in the election campaign, with the kicking out of Anglu Farrugia because Louis Grech was better at attracting the tal-pepe-koccuti-vojti vote, the shocking way in which the party’s deputy leader dealt with the discovery of hard drugs in a party club kitchen, and so much more, but I won’t bore you with the details.

Sometimes I feel I’m looking at people and situations and reading with perfect ease a language that sounds like gobbledegook to most others around me. But then they do say that there are none so blind as those who WILL not see.

Times of Malta reports this afternoon:

MALTA ENTERPRISE BOARD DID NOT DISCUSS APPOINTMENT FOR MINISTER’S WIFE

The Malta Enterprise board did not discuss the appointment of Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi’s wife as an envoy for the agency.

Speaking to the Times of Malta on condition of anonymity, a number of directors said chairman Mario Vella never brought the matter up for discussion, even though the board would normally vet such an appointment.

“I learned about the posting of an envoy to Asia from your newspaper,” one board member said. “I’ve attended all board meetings so far but the issue was never brought to our attention,” he said.

Is that Karl Mark, lately of Highgate Cemetary, in the photo ?

The elves in the comments board have the arrogance to remark that whoever spilt this information should be named and carries whatever comes after for not standing up for the chairman.

I have written comments on line on the T. o. M. on different occasions that Joey’s government will be even worse than Mintoff, but I never expected that this will happen so early – one can say from day one of taking the government.

P.S. your comment under Mario’s photo is so true.
