“In 60 years’ time, I’ll be Labour’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia”

The Labour Party’s belief that some horses should be permitted to die in harness if they so fear obscurity, and that its definition of ‘young and progressive’ means septuagenarians and octogenarians, is beautifully illustrated by this photograph of its new – sorry, the government’s actually, but same difference – ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Jaime Cremona, photographed with the rest of his Gzira FC second division team in 1953.

That’s six decades ago.
