Alfred Mifsud is at the World Bank/IMF annual meeting in Washington, with the finance minister and the Central Bank governor and deputy governor
Alfred Mifsud – former chairman of the Labour Party’s broadcast media, Super One, and Joseph Muscat’s ex employer at Crystal Finance – is currently in Washington at the annual meeting of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.
He is accompanying the finance minister, Edward Scicluna, and the governor and deputy governor of Malta’s Central Bank. The government press release says he is “a financial consultant to the delegation”.
Mifsud is tipped to be made deputy governor of the Central Bank when the law to create a second such post goes through.
Well, there is one government consultant who certainly couldn’t have been part of this delegation. And we all know who that is, don’t we.
Oh, and looking at the news reports on the power station tender award today (no surprises there, I’m afraid), the hand of our blacklisted friend Nair, with his Azerbaijani government network, is all too visible once more.
When I wrote that Muscat and Mallia know already to whom they’re going to be selling those passports, that they must have known way ahead of the law and perhaps even ahead of the general election, and that they are most likely going to be sold to Azerbaijanis (and some Tajikistanis and Georgians), I wasn’t flipping a wild card.

The fact that the winning bidder was the only one, out of the 11 consortiums, with Maltese people involved kind of gave the game away at the start.
Nor did the government’s less-than-subtle appointment of Ray Fenech and Joe Gasan to the board of Air Malta, together, go unnoticed. Not when, to date, the government has appointed only those who have helped the Labour Party in some way, other than committed Laburisti.

Ray Fenech….no surprise there. For the past 5+ years he has become a permanent fixture at MEPA offices, spending all evenings there in the company of the Major Projects team, which was and still is, made up of Labourites. He is VERY close with the Major Projects Team on a social level, the same people who process his applications.
Could not Mifsud have known of the black listing of Nair, such a mature and learned expert in the field of finance and monetary affairs ? Is it possible ? Too gullible.
Alfred Mifsud has more direct links that have been covering this up and in position for some time.
Be kind. Mifsud was obviously a special envoy appointed by Muscat despatched to investigate the world bank’s blqck list in case he is on it too.
While Alfred Mifsud is at the meeting of the World Bank he can do a favour to Joseph Muscat and check whether Shiv Nair is still on the blacklist.

Spot on as usual Daphne. You’re my first port of call for actual news in Malta. The rest of the media have taken their eye off the ball. I just can’t understand why people study to become journalists if they don’t have the balls to chase real stories.
Malta is too small to keep upsetting people with the truth, that is why journalists are too scared to report freely and I don’t blame them. I admire Daphne for her guts and ‘balls’.
I wish she was a bit more critical of the previous administration, but well, that’s her choice. I wish the PL had someone of Daphne’s caliber.
Many could not find another job.
After he’s back from the trip he will be enlightened and will accept the post of Deputy at CBM.
He will be relieved from all the mulling and considerations of whether to accept or not.
And while Alfred Mifsud is at the World Bank Annual Meeting could he please obtain for his Prime Minister an updated list of permanently debarred fraudsters, highlighting any individuals being utilised as experts by our government?
Alfred Mifsud here is wearing a nice shirt. This is the sort of shirt the police commissioner should be wearing.
Not only a nice shirt (I presume you’re talking about the second picture) but also a kinky hairstyle. “Look, no front – but loads at the back”
