Another fine and heroic stand by the Commander AFM

L-Orizzont (which bills itself as an independent daily newspaper when it is owned by the General Workers Union) has devoted the top right-hand spot of its front page today to giving Brigadier Xuereb a good lashing for not turning up to the army’s open day.

Oh, and for saying he was too unwell to do so.

As somebody commented earlier, thank God for Malta he wasn’t around in 1942. The army’s top command, unable to drag himself to open day because of a cold or an upset tummy?

If he doesn’t have the backbone to say why he really didn’t go, and felt he had to use some excuse to save face, then he could have tried to find one that doesn’t make him look even more like one of those food items Pullicino Orlando is fond of purchasing at Is-Serkin at 5am.

In a short answer Joseph Muscat has denied on ‘Reporter’ that Jeffrey Curmi (the next Commander of the Armed Forces) is a family friend.

We have the makings of a great TV series here:

    Mary Grace Strikes Again
    Mary Grace Goes to Brussels
    Mary Grace Falls Ill
Mary Grace Owes Manuel A Big One
    Goodbye, Mary Grace

  5. John Higgins says:

Tony Zammit Cutajar has expressed his disappointment, in Times of Malta today, at Muscat’s record so far, contrary to what he had promised during the election campaign. Poor Tony was fooled by vain Muscat’s empty promises – but at least he can admit to himself and in public that this was the case, which is more than can be said for many others.

Tony is a good friend of mine for over twenty years. Upstanding, a sharp businessman, and pulls no punches. Read his piece today in the Times today. As usual, let it all hang out. Very proud of him.

The advert for Hidmietna at the bottom smells a lot like Socialist propaganda from the 1960s. The title is something taken off Gensna

Perhaps the Brigadier did not go because he han’t got the guts to face all those officers and men he so unashamedly let down.
