Cabinet minister disowns government consultant Shiv Nair and washes his hands of responsibility for recruiting him

Cardona Nair

The Malta Independent reports that Economy Minister Chris Cardona – the cabinet minister whose portfolio includes Malta Enterprise, and therefore, Malta Enterprise consultant Shiv Nair – has said that he “had nothing to do with the Nair’s recruitment as consultant for the government” and that he “was not involved in the process of his selection”.

He told the newspaper that “ministers do not go into the process of who is chosen as an envoy”.

He said exactly the same things about that other suspect consultant, Mrs Konrad Mizzi.

Nair is not just the government’s consultant for energy and a consultant to Malta Enterprise. He is the prime minister’s personal consultant and has been so since Muscat was Opposition leader. He is, in effect, the kingpin in this government’s multiple machinations, advising on the use of tactics similar to those used in the non-democratic states where he operates and does most of his business.

It will soon be case closed for this one as well.

Is Chris Cardona really a cabinet member? He knows nothing, he sees nothing and he hears nothing when in fact a lot is going on.

Someone else must be doing his job for him.

But we all can see his uncomfortable body language.

    That explains a lot.

Has anyone read Franco Mercieca’s article on the Sunday Times of Malta?

Apart from a pack of lies that practically nothing was done in regard of the care fo the elderly, he mentions the appointment of a CEO for St Vincent de Paule Hospital.

What he did not say is that the appointee is a Labour lackey, who happened to be in his course at the university. What he also did not mention was the great expense made to refurbish the office for this political appointee. Maybe someone should ask a question in parliament about this.

Case closed. Shiv Nair “found himself” being engaged by the Maltese government. We don’t know who did it so no one overlooked this “claim on a website”.

In fact, it does make one wonder exactly what Chris Cardona does all day, given that he does not participate in these rather important strategic decisions.

The common theme in all our government’s dealings is the following comment: ‘I was not involved in the selection process’ made by all those who SHOULD have been involved.
