Here’s a crucial point to bear in mind when considering the sale of Maltese passports to ‘investors’
I’m going to spell it out in capital letters, because I am quite tired of people’s inability to think clearly.
THE WORLD’S DESIRABLE AND RESPECTABLE INVESTORS ALREADY HAVE DESIRABLE AND RESPECTABLE PASSPORTS OF THEIR OWN. THEY DO NOT NEED TO BUY A MALTESE ONE. MALTA IS NOT THE UNITED STATES. IT IS NOT THE UNITED KINGDOM. THERE IS NOBODY, UNLESS THAT PERSON HAS A MALTESE FAMILY CONNECTION OR MALTESE BLOOD, WHO WISHES TO BECOME A MALTESE CITIZEN FOR ITS OWN SAKE. ANY ‘INVESTOR’ WHO BUYS A MALTESE PASSPORT DOES SO WITH THE ULTIMATE AIM OF FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT, PROPERTY OWNERSHIP AND DOING BUSINESS IN BRITAIN, FRANCE, GERMANY OR ONE OF THE LARGER AND MORE INTERESTING EU MEMBER STATES. AND IN THAT CASE, THE QUESTION TO ASK IS WHY THEY DON’T TRY FOR A BRITISH OR FRENCH PASSPORT STRAIGHT AWAY. THE ANSWER IS THAT THEY CAN’T. AND THERE ARE MANY REASONS FOR THAT.

Nair is listed in the companies registry in Malta as British. One would like to assume that this is not done without passport details being recorded.
Nair holds a Maltese identity card, 40711A.
[Daphne – For company registration, proof of citizenship is required. 40711A is a resident (A)lien card, not a citizen’s card. That is why the companies registry requires his passport.]
