I have received this comment, from somebody I know personally, who saw Muscat at dinner with Nair

Published: October 10, 2013 at 12:09am

Posted by Such a Liar (I know the person’s name; well actually, I know the person):

It is blatantly untrue that Joseph Muscat has never met Shiv Nair.

I know from Nair himself that he has been meeting Muscat at least once a week when he is in Malta. I also happened to meet them, Nair and Muscat, a couple of years ago, when they were sitting at the same dinner table. A small one at that – just 8 people.

Joseph Muscat, you are quite simply a liar. And if you are prepared to lie about this you can lie about anything.

Moreover, do you think us such fools to believe that Shiv Nair was appointed as an envoy of your government without you ever having met him?

At this stage you should publicly declare that you made a gross error of judgement and have Shiv Nair’s appointments revoked.

Why didn’t Muscat invite the media for pictures when he appointed Shiv Nair as his consultant, like he did with this other consultant?

  3. It-tezi ta' Malta says:

    Natbiladze, on Wikileaks:

    http://dazzlepod.com/cable/09BAKU457/?q=natbiladze

What happened to that Georgia-Azerbaijiani project to build 500kw high voltage transmission lines? Natbiladze reportedly said that construction was to start in September 2009.

Natbiladze has been engaged by Shiv Nair’s company, La Vallette Corporation. His bionote says he is CEO of one of the largest energy companies in Georgia.

Which one is that? The one that deals in stamps through Nair’s address in Valletta and Nair’s / Edward de Bono’s address in Holland Park Avenue, London?

    • ciccio says:

Strangely, the Georgian company dealing in energy where Mr. Natbiladze is CEO is not named.

A search on the internet with key words from my previous sentence gives no results.

One would expect the appointment of a former Minister of the Georgian government (who also served as Ambassador of his country) to the post of CEO of “one of the largest energy companies in Georgia” to be widely published on news sites on the internet.

Where is Mr. Natbiladze and what is he doing?

  4. We are living in Financial Times says:

The Happiness Purpose, author Edward de Bono, dating from 1977, defines a Proto-Truth on these lines:

A Proto-Truth is any new truth that is put forward as the new truth and upheld as dogma until a further new truth manages to secure the position.

In the positive application: it is meant to refer to new ideas and discoveries, understanding that a new discovery will overtake the old. That a hypothesis may one day assert itself over old beliefs.

In the negative application: Well, you have it from JM.

    • It-tezi ta' Malta says:

Such hogwash. Has de Bono ever produced a single, original idea of his own?

      • We are living in Financial Times says:

Yes, he has. Even if they are being applied improperly to the extreme. If he is not a proper thinker, he is an improper one.

A closer connection to the French root meaning of “improper” would apply.

Take the concept of annealing into consideration. The process is normally referred to in the strengthening of metal: heating, hammering, shaping and reheating. Repeating the process, under extreme temperatures.

Ask any chemistry graduate what this does to a metal. It brings about a closer formation of the elements, at each round.

Apply this concept to thinking and then to the process of confusion and chaos being experienced in Malta today.

Whilst everyone is adept in thinking, some have given the processes more thought than others, and because of it have become more agile in the art.

And then they have also given thought to alternative directions and filters, and how these synchronize.

As I note from the number of comments, no one really likes to touch a National Asset, whether liked or hated. Myself included. But this is our reality, unfortunately, and we should not be going further with our eyes shut.

  5. It-tezi ta' Malta says:

Someone should doorstep Nair and ask him how often he met Muscat, when, where and in whose company.

Whatever his answer is, it’ll be interesting.

    • It all Stinks says:

Given Muscat’s statements that he never met Nair, Nair has to lie otherwise he would be confirming that Muscat is what he know him to be.

      • canon says:

Shiv Nair will hold Joseph Muscat hostage.

      • It-tezi ta' Malta says:

If he says he never met and doesn’t have access to Muscat, no one will ever need deal with him as a an intermediary and witnesses will confirm he’s a shady liar.

If he tells the truth about having met Muscat, that’ll expose Muscat as a liar and confirm Nair as suspect.

    Michelle Muscat, x’sar minna dal-ahhar?

  7. Joe Fenech says:

“Moreover, do you think us such fools to believe that Shiv Nair was appointed as an envoy of your government without you ever having met him?”

That’s a bloody good one! Is he implying that he took on someone as an envoy without researching his profile thoroughly and a face to face interview?

Is Muscat a complusive liar? Or simply bonkers?

    • tinnat says:

He has made a gross error of judgement, but not in his eyes, which is what makes him so unbelievably Mintoff-like. He thinks he is infallible, and arrogant.

Admitting to any errors is not in his style. Now, blaming others for errors, yes. It is his only pressure valve, and when enough time has passed that he can no longer blame the previous Government for any actions, he will (need to) start to use it on those around him.

      • I am not sure that a comparison with Mintoff is adequate. Mintoff was crude and dictatorial, but Muscat is going further by showing such contempt for the truth that he cannot but be found out, sooner rather than later, by any reasonable person.

    • DNA says:

      I think he is both.

    • Joe Fenech says:

      tinnat

One of his problems is that he has made far too many ‘errors of judgmenet’ in the months he’s been in office.

Have you analized why would Azerbaijan an oil and gas rich country be interested in going in all the hassle to fund our gas plant project? Half of its supplies on a recent agreement signed only a couple of days ago with Europe are destined to Italy just a stone away…http://www.voanews.com/content/reu-azerbaijan-signs-new-gas-deals-with-europe-snubs-russia/1753321.html

Azerbaijan and China have strong commercial links which has grown handsomely in the past years and many analysts highlight this special relationship as not just any other…http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/business/2013-04/19/content_16422688.htm

So we have two very close countries, where all is passed through the government official channels bidding for our energy market. Our market is insignificant for china and Azerbaijan so what’s their real interest in our homeland? Is it all a coincidence and all was done in good faith?

Then Shiv Nair’s name crops up. Someone who publicly is known to have strong connections with the chinese authorities and somewhat have some links with the Azerbaijan ones..both authoritian countries where deals are only made when one has the right contacts. So what has been his role in all this? What are objectives of this all? .One also doubts how come Tumas and Gasan came to feature in all this given they bidded not with a conglomerate but a country. Also what are the gains for these local companies given they have no previous links with the complex energy field.

Then it crops up this sale of citizenships which will be conducted by a private company. Are there any links with getting a citizenship but effectively buying or renting a home from a restricted couple of hands?

  9. canon says:

Do you remember when Joseph Muscat had the cheek to call Lawrence Gonzi a liar on Xarabank?

  10. anthony says:

In a democracy the PM does not lie.

If he really does lie, he is expected to resign the next moment.

A PM is allowed, very occasionally, to be economical with the truth, and then only when it is in the national interest.

  12. Haruf il-forn says:

Joseph Muscat, our ‘honourable’ prime minister is far beyond being simply someone who has lied. The tightening web of deceit he has constructed in order to float his wobbly arse unto the seat of power is such that he now CANNOT NOT LIE.

Deceit and manipulation are his tools of the trade. Personal power consolidation is his mission and as he himself graciously told us several times before, the end always justifies the means.

To those fooled by this charlatan: how many more red flags do you require to finally conclude that he is nothing more than a slimy creep with the moral rectitude of a squealing hog at a freshly filled trough?

Any authoritative person who would appoint Shiv Nair to such a delicate secret mission as a government envoy without ever having met him and without knowing that he was a crook and a fraudster blacklisted and permanently debarred by the World Bank would be either a fool or a knave – if not both simultaneously.

  16. holly says:

A gross error of judgement or just an arrogant belief that nobody would have caught him out?

  17. Such A liar says:

I wasn’t at the same dinner table but I was at the same restaurant at the same time and saw Muscat and Nair at table together with their wives. I know who Nair is and that is why I recognised him.

It was most definitely a social evening and not business – an evening planned with their wives. Nor was it meant to be covert, because they were in full view of everyone at a very full restaurant.

  18. LUPARA says:

Why hasn’t anyone (any of our erstwhile investigative journalists) gone off and did a paparazzi to Shiv Nair and try to get some answers. Otherwise everyone will continue ducking under the radar as is now happening… well except for this site

  19. bull's eye says:

I cannot understand the astonishment at Muscat being a liar. He has been telling lies ever since he “obtained” his doctorate – and even before that, when he spread propaganda for the Labour Party at Super One.
