From Hansard (transcript of proceedings in the House of Commons – question posted by MP to the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, and the latter’s reply) – the Malta government/Malta Enterprise/Energy Ministry’s consultant crops up again:

In my opinion the Nair affair will never surface on mainstream media for a simple reason: if it does, Nair will leave Malta and with him all the investment/money he promised the PL government.

The Labour media will obviously not mention it.

The Nationalist media will not mention it because if they do, they will be accused of hindering the government and “dawk li telfuna investiment kbir min barra”.

So the PN media will not pick it up. Similarly to the Enemalta scandal, the PL distanced itself from disseminating the news although one wonders who gave the hard drive to Saviour Balzan. Thus PN will distance itself from the Nair affair to ensure that they are not accused of hampering foreign investment.

The independent media should pick it up … but there is none. All independents have shown their true colours in the as election and busting the Nair affair now may be a bit too early in the legislation.

It looks like India and China have found the unlikely alliance suggested, directly, to President Kalam.

What you say is very true, but does not detract from the moral responsibilities of the Nationalist Party.

I’ve heard it said about American politics that the two parties are like two balls under the same dick.

Seems to me that this applies equally well to politics of the Maltese variety.

Daphne, feel free to censor at your discretion, but I just had to say it.

If anyone has the time it is well worth going into the British Parliament Archives. There’s a wealth of information.

For example this is from an exchange between Sir Alec Douglas-Home and Mr. Biggs-Davison.

    HC Deb 12 July 1971 vol 821 cc18-9
‘Do not many of us who know Dom Mintoff like to remember the time when he wanted to get closer to Britain?’

    • Francis Saliba MD says:

Only “closer”? Mintoff wanted to “integrate” Malta with Britian with (?) three seats in the House of Commons. Nothing would have been more suffocatingly close if “salvatur” Dom had had his wish!

  3. Osservatore says:

If that is really the case, then we have long since been bought and sold by the political parties and the media.

    Huta tinten dan.

    Il-huta minn rasa tinten.

    Food for thought.
