A reader has just sent me photographs of the rather smashing birthday card which Economy Minister Chris Cardona sent him in a Government of Malta envelope.

He was, of course, thrilled.

Seriously? In a Government of Malta envelope?

  2. edgar says:

    Amazing – what class.

      Not amazing at all.

Transport Minister Joe Mizzi has been sending us (constituents of the second district) Christmas cards even when in opposition, in government envelopes and with free postage.

    Disgusting use of my taxes.

This guy has made a lot of promises to a lot of people before the election.

    • P SHaw says:

Yes, I can vouch for that. A lot promises that, I assume, people took seriously.

He even sends SMSs for birthdays.

  5. A says:

I have three of these, one for every person with a vote registered in the 8th district, including one who no longer lives in Malta. I’ll send you a pic shortly.

Do I get his photo on my birthday? I can’t wait for the day.

It literally fell in his lap.

In the past 5 years my family always received similar cards in government envelopes from Joe Mizzi as we come from the 2nd district. He stopped sending after the election.

Moreover it advertises what presumably is a government communication (from a Minister in a Malta Government envelope) with the Partit Laburista logo. It seems that it still has not yet dawned on him that they are now the government.

  11. TROY says:

Christ! Mine is on the 25th December.

  12. Butterfly says:

I also received one of these…. and one from Edward Zammit Lewis.

  13. dg says:

Both my husband and I received the same material, in government envelopes, but not stamped like government envelopes usually are. We do not know Chris Cardona and never provided him with our names, addresses and dates of birth, but his greetings were the first to arrive in our letter box.

  14. N. Mifsud says:

Well, Labour MPs used to send birthday greeting cards in government envelopes even when they were in Opposition, let alone now.

If I may I indulge in a spot of card-sending, and seeing as ’tis that time of year, here’s to our favourite witch, pictured here flying above the dark forests of Bidnija.
