UPDATED: Right, let’s work out how much that cost the public purse
Now remember that I’m going on the basis of 14 communications coordinators from the full complement of 14 ministries, plus Kurt Farrugia from the Office of the Prime Minister, as head of government communications.
All of them were seen (by more than one person) going through the airport over the course of yesterday, en route to London.
The figure may actually be higher if the group included communications coordinators from the private secretariats of parliamentary secretaries, who may have slunk through unnoticed, but let’s go with what we know for a fact and work on the basis of 15 people (14 ministries and Kurt Farrugia).
EUR
31,239 for course fees at GBP1,780 per person converted at GBP1/EUR1.17
3,750 for 15 Air Malta flights at an average of EUR250 each
22,320 for per diem allowance (hotels, meals, transport) in line with government Class B (EUR248)
———
57,309
I would say, wouldn’t you, that flying a couple of trainers over would have cost a fraction of that. But it’s not their money, so they’re happy to waste it. And they get to go to their favourite place, Oxford Street.
You can read the schedule of per diem allowances here. Ministers/heads of secretariat/chiefs of staff are class A; the rest class B.

Why isn’t this a headline on Super One?
I hope it will be the headline on NET News.
How about a greeting party at arrivals?
They should be transformed by then, willing to answer, good for public relations.
Camera set and ready at Primark.
Let them enjoy it. If it’s acceptable to Dr Simon Busuttil, it’s fine by me.
Ghajnek orkitek? I’m sure you featured prominently at table.
Had they been wise enough, they would have planned their trip for the January sales.
Plus 90 days’ wages.
“The Opposition was in panic mode because it knew that this investment programme would mean benefits for the country and its people.”
Can they be more jaqq? We can’t expect much more from these idiots but please take advice from the suckers whose job is actually to sell Malta to institutional investors (which is steadily becoming a feat). If they seriously think €650k is going to attract HNWIs they’re dreaming.

It costs as much as the honoraria after all.
Everything has become acceptable on this bloody rock.
Add 20% VAT to £ 1780 since price quoted is ex VAT
Less a 10% discount offered for organisations nominating more than 3 participants
It would have been cheaper for them to get the tutor to Malta. But overseas training is more of a reward plus the iced bun.
Your calculations are slightly off. Kurt’s charged half price only
