The case of Twanny Bronka and Gozo Channel is now closed. Because the prime minister said so.

Gozo Channel closed

Will you all please stop discussing Twanny Bronka, Ix-Xitan and the ferry that did a U-turn like much of the government’s decisions?

The prime minister has told you that the case is now closed. Enough. Let’s move on to other things and be positive.

    Is it just me, or isn’t the Gozo Channel incident the lesser travesty of this whole affair?

    Having a bank loan of €850,000 on this poor bloke’s salary is a clear indication – even evidence – of tax evasion. Interrupting a ferry seems like small potatoes by comparison.

    Or is tax evasion so accepted – even by our politicians – in Malta that people stopped raising an eyebrow? It’s hard for a poor, ignorant Swede, such as myself, to comprehend.

  2. Antoine Vella says:

    According to the Prime Minister the case was never open, so how can he close it?

  3. canon says:

    Now what is The Sunday Times of Malta going to say about this? They say that Twanny Bronka has to go; the prime minister says he stays and that it’s ‘case closed’.

    • ciccio says:

      And the Sunday Times said that “If there is any accountability left in the Labour Government, he (the Bronka) should resign, or be dismisssed with immediate effect.”

      The Sunday Times has no option but to conclude that there is no accountability left in the Labour Government.

      I am not of the same opinion as The Sunday Times – I never believed that there was any accountability to start with in the Labour Government. The Sunday Times preferred to give Muscat the benefit of the doubt, but it has been let down.

  4. Carmelo Micallef says:

    This devilish plonker, named Bronka, gets The Devil to turn a ship around and deliver him, the plonker, to Gozo – did The Devil also get the bank to loan this poor plonker such a great sum?

    One can understand how the self satisfying Prime Minister relishes the positive contribution of The Devil.

  5. Bla vot says:

    What an arrogant, puffed-up little twerp.

  6. Freedom5 says:

    I agree with Patrick here. Why has the PN kicked up such a fuss about Anton Refalo asking the ferry to turn back, but not about such a serious offence of apparent big time tax evasion by the same minister?

    I suspect other MPs have similar problems.

    I give up on this country.

    • Ghoxrin Punt says:

      They did raise the issue way back when the declarations were made, but as usual everyone was intent on slamming the PN no matter what.

  7. Francis Saliba MD says:

    In view of the Labour Party boasts about the promised accountability could the Hon Prime Minister J Muscat please deign to inform the nation “how” this scandal was closed by him?

    Are humble ferryboat users below the rank of cabinet ministers also authorised to contact ix-Xitan so that the Gozo ferryboat would be turned round to collect them whenever they miss the ferry? Could we please have this devil’s cellular phone number?

  8. CIS says:

    He forgot to tell us it’s a storm in a teacup, his other favourite dismissal of a serious subject.

    The more they play with the people’s intelligence the more they show us what a breath of stale air they are.

  9. curious says:

    La x-xitan hekk irid, inkomplu niddiskutu.

  10. Joe Fenech says:

    If Muscat had to dismiss all the ministers involved in scandals so far, he would end up with a trio.

  11. pablo says:

    It’s just another tool in the bag of ‘shut your face up’ which Muscat and Co are using with anyone who dares ask questions. The other tools are:

    a. you are drowning in your negativity, so shut up;
    b. we won handsomely, so shut up;
    c. the PN did that too, so shut up;
    d. we have everything in hand, so shut up;
    e. we are convinced we are going to get results, so shut up;
    f. you never learn, do you, how to shut up, so shut up;
    g. 36,000, so shut up;
    h. we decide what is right or wrong as it suits us, so shut up;
    i. you pay for our largesse, so what – shut up;
    j. it shows you haven’t learned your lesson, so shut up.

    • ciccio says:

      We have a roadmap, and its all costed, so shut up.

    • Ghoxrin Punt says:

      We’re in power, so shut up.

      We want to travel and see the world, so shut up.

      We want to have fun at your expense, so shut up.

      It’s our turn, so shut up.

      A crowd of idiots believed us and didn’t believe you, because we were shinier (more Chinese money to spend), so shut up.

  12. verita says:

    Sheer arrogance: case closed, because he said so. He’s learning fast from the Chinese.

  13. TROY says:

    Joseph has spoken, so be it.

    Switchers can eff off.

  14. my friend says:

    I think that now in Malta at it has always bean there are two ways and two measures how the people look at the government.

    When PN is in power nothing is good enough because people hold them to a higher standard, but when Labour is in power people have different expectations and think abuse and poor standards are normal. They even try to turn that abuse to their advantage, and end up seeing it as a good thing.

  15. Joe Fenech says:

    This is in Greece – not a necessarily a transparent, fair country:

  16. WhoamI? says:

    OK. Once again, I will make myself available for a million and one eggs.

    What is stopping the PN from calling a “Mozzjoni ta’ sfiducja” in parliament?

    I know that it will be defeated given that Labour have such a majority in parliament, but it would be on record in the country’s highest institution – media reports will fizzle away into nothing after a few days.

    And people will forget regardless. This is the same thing that Labour used to do last year and the one before that. There were instances when it must have been clear to them that the motion will be defeated, yet they still presented one.

  17. just me says:

    Ah, the emperor has spoken… case closed.
    But tell that to the duty manager who has been unjustly suspended. Has our prime minister absolutely no conscience?

  18. M. Cassar says:

    Does he realize that we do not have the mental age of his children?

  19. kjd says:

    The Right Hon. Prime Minister said that Gozo Channel policy was broken and that the Minister corrected a wrong. Would Gozo Channel please be kind enough to clarify what policy was broken and when it became a policy – you know, just in case it was implemented after the fact?

  20. rpacebonello says:

    This is the way we see democracy. So shut up!
