The Prime Minister: hawking Maltese passports in Miami with Henley & Partners

Published: October 19, 2013 at 8:12pm

Prime Minister Muscat will be speaking at the 7th Global Residence and Citizenship Conference 2013, organised by Grosvenor Global and scheduled for 20 – 22 November at the Mandarin Oriental in Miami.

Malta is a ‘Gold Sponsor’ of this conference. Perhaps our transparent government will tell us how much this cost.

Hugh Morshead, managing partner of the Jersey office of Henley & Partners and chairman of Henley & Partners Holdings Ltd, will be speaking there with him.

Morshead is the man who, alongside failed Labour candidate and Identity Malta chief Joe Vella Bonnici, explained the programme for the sale of Maltese passports to an audience of financial services and law professionals at a meeting at the Hotel Excelsior a couple of days ago.

They have a Partners Programme as well. Is Michelle’s suitcase ready?

  2. It-Tezi ta' Mario says:

Henley and Partners’ client – Malta – is paying for them to drum up business.

Muscat may have worked in marketing, but the intelligence is AWOL.

  3. Chris says:

How does this man want to be taken seriously on the European stage. One moment he is PM of a country next he’s a travelling salesman selling passports to the highest bidder.

If this continues as planned, our passport will be considered as dodgy as our old green ones, and we can expect to be stopped at every port, Schengen or no Schengen.

On another note is this why he is insisting on a November 9 budget? So as not to interfere with his travel plans?

  4. Mark Vassallo says:

There’s one quick way to sink this ridiculous ‘passport for sale’ business – have the opposition declare that any such passports will be subject to review upon a change in government.

That should bring the price down from €650k to about €10k in one fell swoop.

    • it-Tezi ta' Mario says:

That is unlikely to scare away dubious purchasers who will only revel in the reduced price.

They are not after a credible passport. They want one allows them to travel freely in the EU and without visas elsewhere.

Funny how the “subcontractor’s” bio appears before the prime minister’s.

  6. Natalie says:

Can you imagine David Cameron boasting that he was the Outstanding Young Person of the Year?
