Anglu Farrugia is having a whale of a time on his frequent one-man delegations to wherever. Like others in the Labour Party – oh sorry, he isn’t any more, is he – he seems to think of work trips as a form of pleasure: insiefru u nivvjaggaw.

The latest is his visit to Florence. But I am astonished. Why exactly is the Speaker of the House representing MALTA rather than parliament at commercial meetings with companies, banks and other potential investors?

X’tahwid.

  1. Florence = Florentine says:

“Bank Firenzjan privat”. Ostra x’injoranza ta’ nies. Never heard of the proper “Bank Fjorentin”?

  2. Bubu says:

Isn’t it demeaning towards the country as well as towards himself, for the speaker of the house to do this kind of legwork?

If I were a director of an Italian company and an actual MP came all the way to beg me to open shop in his country, I would be thinking to myself “ma che sono questi…morti di fame?”

  3. viva n nort koreja says:

You can just imagine what those posh northern Italians must think when they get sight of this uncouth, badly-dressed ‘burrino’.

  4. Wilson says:

This could easily be portrayed as treason under the right circumstances. Shame Jeffrey isn’t there to instigate a vote.

  5. Jozef says:

    Firenzjan. Hekk ghidilhom il-Fjorentini. U l-Beltin Vallettjani.

Join the government (or become Speaker) and see the world.

Typical ‘qatt ma raw xejn’ Labourite thinking. Their idea of the perfect job: a good ‘wage’ with lots of travelling involved.

  7. Tal-ustra man! says:

    Stejk Firenzjan?

  8. ciccio says:

Ma hadux mieghu lil Franco Debono? Dak fan kbir Firenzjan.

  9. Polly says:

Is-sinjura Frazier mhiex “ambaxxatrici” imma “ambaxxatur”.

Dak biex jimxi fuq il-passi ta’ Lorenzo il Magnifico. Hasra li Michelangelo ma kienx hemm ghax kieku kien jimmudella lilu ghal David.

  11. The Mole says:

“…u huwa magħruf l-għaliex huwa bank Firenzjan privat.” Really makes sense. Totally.
