If the prime minister really meant what he said about ‘listening to the people’s verdict’ on the sale of citizenship, then why is he in Miami right now, preparing to sell Maltese citizenship at a conference tomorrow?

“I heard you’ve been cheating on your wife with that hot hairdresser from Hal Ghaxaq.”

Joseph Muscat flew to Miami today to speak at the 7th Global Residence and Citizenship Conference 2013, organised by Grosvenor Global (the public relations company owned by Henley & Partners) which began today at the Mandarin Oriental hotel and ends on Friday.

The Malta government is a ‘gold sponsor’ of this conference.

Louis Grech and Elena Farrugia’s husband are with him.

So clearly, they don’t mean what they say about changing the law they’ve only just approved. Bunch of liars. More fool those who believe them.

It was all planned from A to Z. He says one thing and does what was already planned. When will we learn, I wonder.

Because the Prime Minister is confident in his ability to manipulate the electorate.

All these trips and hotels, are they being paid for by our taxes?

  4. Gahan says:

And he left RTK Radio interviewer Karl Wright waiting because of an ‘urgent flight’ when everything was planned weeks ago.

He couldn’t be bothered to keep an appointment, let alone run a country.

The idea of the newly-elected prime minister of Malta travelling around the world peddling Maltese citizenship like Salvina tal- hut selling ”lampuki hajjin” must be distressing to the majority of Maltese irrespective of their political belief. Either he sacks his hare-brained ”advisers ” or else his fellow Labour MPs should consider sacking him before he tarnishes further Malta’s reputation.

You can never trust them, you just know whatever they say is yet another lie.

How much does one need to put down to become “gold sponsor”?

Seriously, all this travelling is just getting ridiculous. I don’t think there has ever been a Maltese prime minister who travelled so much in such a short time.

Many people claim that they will tour the world if they ever win the lottery. As far as Joseph Muscat is concerned, he’s just won the lottery. In Michelle Muscat’s words, he’s “really making the most of these five years.”

I hope the opposition and the press are keeping a record of the prime minister’s travels, expenses and benefits Malta is deriving (or not) from them.

Just for comparative purposes, look at the list of countries visited by the President of the United States of America since getting re-elected. Seven countries in 2012 and eleven in 2013 (with a planned Asian trip being cancelled due to the United States government shutdown). That’s the most powerful country in the world.

Well Simon Busuttil did tell us that the Prime Minister is not a statesman but a salesman.

And here is Muscat himself proving him right.

  13. Tom Double Thumb says:

Joseph Muscat is running the risk of being struck off the electoral register since he is not in Malta for the time required by law to have the vote.

The Labour Party once attempted to deprive me of my right to vote because I had been in Sicily for a week and someone at the airport failed to stamp my passport on returning to Malta.

I wasted a day in court to claim my right.

  14. Toni says:

I do feel rather mixed up.

How are the PL members of parliament feeling?

They have berated the Opposition in and out of parliament for opposing this law, ridiculed their proposed amendments and derided them as ‘negative’.

They voted to pass the law as presented in a rush. Now if and when it is amended and is presented again in parliament, are they going to admit that they were wrong? How are they going to vote?

  15. unhappy says:

So not only are you prostituting your country, you have to pay to sponsor the conference to help you pimp it.
