Is the government’s head of communications a born tool, or did he train up for the purpose?

You will never believe what Corto Farrugia has tweeted. Look. Rub your eyes and look again. Massive? Massive?

He’s stuck at a rave party, circa 1992, or maybe it’s the retro experience given that he’d have been in primary school then.

But that’s not the point. The point is his skewed logic. The decision to hold the Commonwealth meeting in Malta in 2015, in his view, “confirms respect for Malta among int’l leaders”.

Oh, so that would be why they’ve just held it in Sri Lanka. You know, as a mark of respect for human rights abuses and war crimes.

With skewed logic like that, I’m surprised he’s allowed to operate a tin-opener without a licence.

I still remember Labour saying ten years ago that money spent on CHOGM was money down the drain.

  4. Carmelo Micallef says:

This simple posting of DCG will be interesting to read in 2015 to see how many of this fetid regimes collection of `pimps, thieves and scoundrels` are still in their political sinecures.

As my Chinese friends say on the virtue of patience: wait by a stream long enough and you will watch your enemies pass

  5. Min Jaf says:

Mauritius pulled out of its turn to host CHOGM next time round. No other country was ready to fill the gap, bar a token and half-hearted offer by New Zealand. Malta was the muggins.

    • gozitano says:

‘Consensus among International leaders confirms respect for Malta” qed insoddu it-toqob because Mauritius pulled out of hosting CHOGM 2015

Why do we always have to be so negative?

We always have to find the opportunity to beat our govt on the head, whatever they do. This is what is not doing any good to our country, it comes either out of spite or even vested interest.

In olden days this was called treason to one’s country and they had come up with the good idea of putting, those found guilty, up against the wall.or at the least cut off there tongues, to-day this would be mean blocking their computers.

[Daphne – Look, Mr Loporto, I know the weather’s not good, but wouldn’t you be better off down at Cafe Cuba chatting with all your gentlemen friends and putting Malta to rights? Or is this more fun?]

    • Liberal says:

Oh dear, the fascist is back.

    • Carmelo Micallef says:

Silvio Loporto, your threats are pathetic, and yours is the behaviour of a very little person. It is good and positive to have you and your ilk on the other side.

Tajjeb, Sur Loporto. Dak iż-żmien kont Nazzjonalist, u għandi nifhem b’idejat faxxisti bħal dawn li għadek kif esprimejt.

Mhux għaġeb li ma kontx komdu fil-PN b’idejat bħal dawk – anzi niskanta kif fis-seklu 21 wieħed bħalek kien supporter tal-PN. Min jaf għaliex? Forsi stennejt xi ħaġa u lejn l-elezzjoni tal-2013 ħsibt li jkun jaqbillek aktar jekk taqleb lejn il-PL.

B’idejat bħal tiegħek il-moviment ‘liberali, moderat u progressiv’ jieħu laqta tassew oriġinali u li tixraqlu. Ara kif tagħmel u ibqa’ supporter tal-PL.

        Ma jiddiżappuntawkx żgur.

How interesting that you should say that. It’s exactly what Mahinda Rajapaksa’s brother, Sri Lanka’s minister of defence said when questioned about Lasantha Wickrematunge’s assasination.

Now they simply forgot how much they used to say that holding the CHOGM meeting in MALTA was a waste of money .

  11. Steve says:

[Daphne – Because he’s Malta’s high commissioner in London occasionally.]

  12. Wilson says:

He must live in another era.

  13. Banana Republic .... again says:

To someone the size of a coconut, most things are massive.

But, seriously, this shows such a level low self-esteem. Malta hosted this meeting in 2005. So why is it so massive now?

Have they forgotten how much the MLP complained that the PN government took CHOGM seriously enough to build proper roads and infrastructure to showcase Malta?

  14. gorg says:

Massive? Surely not like his surface area.

  15. Natalie says:

We’re just filling in for Mauritius, Kurt, because Mauritius has principles about human rights and Malta under Labour does not.

Perhaps you can get China to finance it.

  20. Silvio Farrugia says:

Daphe come on..the nationalists were as bad as these incumbents.Do you know what everbody is saying ? The ” Klikka” changed to a new ”Klikka” and jobs for the blue eyed boys to the new blue eyed boys. This is Malta after all. Also if after 5 years this government is again elected they will get much worse and more corrupt like the ones before them did when we kept putting them there . We should change every 5 years….
