Peralta probably reasons that nobody in the government has a right to purse their lips at his behaviour. And in that, he’s right.

Of course Carol Peralta can't see what he's done wrong when this one does so much worse and the prime minister neither expresses disapproval nor fires him.

Of course Carol Peralta can’t see what he’s done wrong when this one does so much worse and the prime minister neither expresses disapproval nor fires him.

Times of Malta reports:

The Parliamentary Secretary for Justice, Owen Bonnici, revealed this afternoon that soon after he yesterday asked the Court registrar to confirm the reports about a party having been held in Magistrate Carol Peralta’s courtoom, the magistrate himself phoned him.

Dr Bonnici said he clearly and categorically expressed his absolute disapproval over the magistrate’s decision to order the arrest of a reporter who went to court to see what was going on. This arrest was manifestly illegal and abusive.

The magistrate refused to understand that his actions were wrong and continued to persist in behaviour which drew the condemnation of the people.

Well, the way I see it, Carol Peralta probably thinks that this bunch in government are fine ones to talk. After all, look at what they’ve been up to. They’re leading him by example.

Didn’t the then minister for justice and the police (now no longer minister for justice) throw a big party at the prime minister’s residence at Girgenti and use the police for catering services and to wait on his guests?

And he didn’t resign, did he. He doesn’t even understand what he did that was wrong, and the only reason he doesn’t do it again is to avoid the media flak, not because he can see how bad it is.

Then you have the prime minister, engaging the consultancy services of his personal friend, a man blacklisted by the World Bank, and when caught out by this website, saying 1. that he doesn’t know Shiv Nair (a bald lie), and 2. that he didn’t know Nair is blacklisted (he’s probably lying about that too).

So of course Carol Peralta can’t understand why they’re making such a fuss about his behaviour. I’m sure he’s worked it out by now, because he may be a drunk but he’s not stupid.

They’re making a fuss because people (read, votes) are making a fuss. The prime minister has to pretend to be shocked and upset because we are angry. If we weren’t angry, he wouldn’t give a damn, like he hasn’t given a damn about all the other things that have occurred and like he doesn’t give a damn about the behaviour of his own cabinet ministers unless the polls tell him that we do.

What about organising a party in one’s own courtroom? Doesn’t that attract the “absolute disapproval” over the magistrate’s behaviour and decision in turning a courtroom into a burdell?

It seems that Dr. Owen Bonnici is trying to avoid negative media coverage of his actions by The Times.

Dr. Bonnici has said that there were no other parties held in the courtrooms under his watch, but Carol Peralta has said differently, claiming that another party was organised a couple of weeks ago. Who is saying the truth and who is lying?

If Mrs Michelle Muscat can hold high teas at the prime minister’s office, then Magistrate Carol Peralta no doubt thinks he can have high spirits in his courtroom.

Owen Bonnici only pointed to the arrest of a reporter as being wrong.

Had he stated that holding a party in a courtroom to be wrong then he would have implicated the people participating and from the guest list emerging that would have been some of his fellow PL Members of Parliament and another PL leaning Magistrate besides Magistrate Peralta.

I hope we’re in for a festive bitch-fight between Peralta and Muscat. Beats watching the Queen’s speech.

I am coming to pity Dr. Muscat; he is becoming so helpless when dealing with such actions that lose him votes. A true hostage.

How can anyone of them say anything. Who does not make a party at this time of the year? One thing I have to say ” He who have no SIN throw the first stone ”
