The EU is only as strong as its weakest link. The arguments against allowing poor countries like Malta join may’ve been very well founded if this is the course of action they will follow.

Come on ‘Defni hi’, did you have to inform the Financial Times? Or was it Simon Busuttil this time? The PM won’t appreciate this damaging of Malta’s name. Who is going to take on the responsibility for this now?
The pity is that my family and I live and work in Malta, otherwise I would be finding this amusing, to say the least.
