Triple cringe: “Is it true I can buy a Maltese passport for 650,000 rupees?”

Published: December 12, 2013 at 10:50pm

Here’s Harjap Bhangal, a British Sikh immigration lawyer (Google him), on MATV – which as far as I can make out is some kind of community service channel – answering questions from Indian callers.

One of them rings in to ask whether it’s true you can buy a Maltese passport “for 650,000 rupees”. No, he says, you can buy one for 650,000 euros.

Lanqas hu tost dan ukoll – haseb li i-passaport tieghi jiswa 7650 ewro. Veru li Joseph gabna nidrhu cheap imma mhux daqshekk.

Why is their English so much better-sounding than ours?

So any “talent” facing deportation from the UK or any EU country can pay Euro 650,000 to Malta and then raise their middle finger.

Yes, we are starving, we need the money and most of all we need some talent stuffed up our rectum.

Would Malta have to lower the price it charges for EU Nationality if Britain left the EU?

This is what we define as a Maltese “professional”.

He deserves “Gieh ir-Repubblika” for swearing.

Many Maltese still think that if we want to talk “between us” we should speak Maltese as a sort of secret language. If it’s not the commentator or reporter, it’s the people who comment on the comments boards who will show what we really are.

And you can’t really hide swearing because the tone and words like ‘Madonna’ make it obvious.

Nowadays one cannot hide, Big Brother is everywhere: smart phones, the Web, innumerable TV stations, radio stations and whatnot. All this information is available, at the touch of a button.

It is illogical to blame the people who show the world the real perpetrators who dominate the news, be it swearing in Maltese or a law enabling the sale of passports to unknown people for a pittance.

Big Brother is the one next to you and is watching and reporting everyone, from Joe Citizen to Joe the Prime Minister.

Kempadoo, who is developing a new resort called Kittitian Hill, worries that public-private partnerships such as Henley’s compromise the island’s sovereignty.

“They’re pirates of the Caribbean,” he says of companies handling the citizenship business. “The situation of the country predicates that they are open to citizenship by investment. St. Kitts’ debt is 180 percent of its GDP. How can the government say no?”

Does this not echo the debt situation of Malta? Hence the act of selling it’s soul?

  9. george grech says:

Are Henley and Partners qualified to carry out the due diligence ? Since they have not yet formally denied the accusations by Profs Alfred Scicluna they are thus admitting their fault for the chaotic and humiliating situation at present.

If they could not foresee the outcome of their proposal I cannot imagine how they can decide who will be fit to acquire a Maltese passport.

The education minister has accepted the chairman of the Students Maintenance Grants Board’s resignation, the government has said.

Tonio Briguglio had to resign over a notice he allegedly issued with regards students stipends and the uproar it caused. Meanwhile Henley and Partners will still cash millions from this scheme that has causes an uproar worldwide.

    Cringe further.

Thanks to all the idiots who decided to give the mandate to this lot to run my country and turn it into a circus..

Li hu zgur hu li Henley & Something ma kellhomx bzonn jonfqu wisq flus biex jghatu pubblicita ta’ din l-iskema madwar id-dinja.

  13. unhappy says:

Why would Henley and Something care who goes through the net? The more the merrier for their bank account. They are paid by both the government and the taxpayer of Malta for screwing them, as sell as the applicant who is exploiting the system.

They are parasites who will burrrow through you flesh and guts until there’s nothing left. Then they will move on to the next host country.
