The Labourgeoisie: Malta has a new class of people which cuts right across the social spectrum

Published: January 30, 2014 at 1:27pm

The favour-seeking, money-paying, contracts-scamming, posts-for-sucking, privileges-for-lackeyism giant army of people who are now having the country run according to their (lack of) ideals needed a name.

We can’t keep calling it the Taghna Lkoll brigade.

So I thought I’d coin one: the Labourgeoisie.

Let’s not forget posts for agents.

I trust the UK government is keeping tabs on this blog.

The UK election campaign has many parallels to what happened in Malta.

So many, that I am of the opinion that Labour in Malta has exported some of its agents to the UK.

Who in the UK is backing such moves? Who is opening up the doors?

  2. Banana Republic .... again says:

    It’s the long-promised new mittelkless.

  3. mhasseb says:

    The Labourgeoisie excel in labourparasitism.

  4. Tinnat says:

As you have described them above, an apt term would be , erm, “Chinese”.

  5. Salvu says:

Fl-opinjoni tieghi, ‘Labourgeoisie’ tinstema’ sabih imma hi eleganti wisq biex tiddefenixxi lil tal-lejber. Ha nghiduha kif inhi, ma hemmx farka eleganti f’dak kollu li jghamlu ghax qishom iljunfanti ghadhom jitwieldu.

And the chosen few of the Labour clique:

    Labour-choisi

  7. albona says:

    How about Labourarchy?

  8. Jozef says:

One only has to look at economic statistics to realise there’s something consistently malfunctioning.

One of the PN’s greatest legacies was the MCESD, focussed, short reaction times and which objectivity and consensus was never put into question. It was one sharp instrument.

All we’re getting right now is unions contradicting government or complaining they’ve been put aside. That Bencini’s turning out useless. But then, what does he care about the private sector?

As for the other major promise, participation in environmental talk, it now results all members of all boards are appointed by the minister.

Malta deserves so much better, even because we had gotten used to open government, bickering every which way. Call it mental belt tightening

  9. H.P. Baxxter says:

I like it, and not in a Facebook way.

Now you have to find a term for the forgotten minority. I can’t keep calling them Stricklandjani.

  10. Kevin says:

Whichever name we want to call the”Taghna Lkoll brigade”, they will remain severely misguided, amoral and pathologically narcissistic.

  11. il-Ginger says:

Laburgeoisi has a nicer ring to it

  12. QahbuMalti says:

Mario Vella will love the term.

  13. Manuel says:

    Love it.

  14. Patrijott says:

It is too difficult to write with all those vowels let alone pronounce. I’d prefer il-mittelklass ta’ Joseph

  15. C Falzon says:

I already see it morphing to Lejberguz.

Much easier for the masses to pronounce, and the guz will will of course be associated with Joseph.

But actually I think the Taghna Lkoll is more appropriate, even if just for the irony of it.

  16. Tarzan says:

Il-hmar tista’ tharislu minn fuq, minn taht, mix-xellug, mil-lemin, minn wara jew minn quddiem. Id-dehra tvarja, imma flahhar minn l-ahhar, dejjem hmar jibqa.

  17. Francesca says:

I’d love to hear one of them try to pronounce it.

  18. giac says:

The New Middle Class he has been mentioning before the last election

  19. ciccio says:

It’s nice to have a choice of terms. It’s like having different suits for different occasions. I also like to call them the Muscatoffjani. And their economic style is Mintoffianomics.

  20. H.Galea (NRK) says:

Perhaps La Burgwazì (il-g bit-tikka) sounds more like it. Issa mhux kollox bil-Malti qed nispellu.

  21. Mimmi says:

I love Labourgeoisie. COLPO DI GENIO Daphne!
