Time to give the Chamber of Commerce a tinkle, I’d say – oh, and the MFSA too

Somebody should ring David Curmi at the Chamber of Commerce to ask him why he nailed his flag to this particular mast, and how he feels about supporting an irresponsible scheme that united the entire European Parliament (bar a couple of communists, Marine Le Pen, five people from the anti-EU UKIP, four people from the Malta Labour Party) against it.
And while they’re at it, they should ring Joe Bannister at the Malta Financial Services Authority and ask him exactly what it is he knows that the entire European Parliament does not.
Some people…honestly.

Hasn’t Joe Bannister overstayed?
Joe Bannister = John Dalli
Joe Bannister = John Dalli. Enough said.
Exactly, L-istess ħsieb tiegħi. Għall-flus anke ruħhom se jispiċċaw ibiegħu.
Exactly.
Exactly.
Exactly
Yes, but he’s one Malta’s untouchables. Academic, you see.
Yes, perhaps someone may explain how a biochemist ended up running the Malta Financial Services Authority.
Oh the joys of academia. Touche pas à mon profs.
As usual, all willow trees bend with the wind.
All spineless people bend as instructed and as required
“1 billion euros. Kif tista’ ma ccedix?”
This is what a pimp says when prostituting his wife and children.
He will obviously blame his wife for not having a dowry worth a kingdom.
This PM has the political mentality of a pimp.
” 1 billion euros. Kif tista’ ma tilaqx?”
I never had any respect for Curmi, who like Muscat is an arriviste.
I’d like to listen to him defending his position in defiance of the entire European Parliament, at the next cocktail party or ‘reception’.
I know Raphael Vassallo has had his head firmly lodged in his arse for quite some time now, but this naive drivel took me by surprise. Acting like some boy in his early teems who thinks it’s cool to go against the grain and shock daddy, I guess. Isn’t he a bit too old for that now?

Aren’t the MHRA pro this scheme too? They should be called for their opinion since Muscat pissed off the government’s each and every main source tourist market.
Indeed, great shame on both of them. Joe Bannister should however have been given first mention. He leads what was once our iconic Malta Financial Services Centre, but which will henceforth go downhill in consequence of Malta’s shamed reputation, seemingly with his blessing.
Since the start of the year, Times of Malta has not dedicated one single editorial on the shameful sale of citizenship. Not even today. Why?
[Daphne – They’ve ‘moved on’.]
They probably decided to treat this as another “case closed,” like this one here:
http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20131008/local/Gozo-Channel-call-back-case-is-now-closed-claims-Muscat.489439
But if we must reduce this to sound bites, nothing beats this one:
“If there is any accountability left in the Labour Government, he should resign, or be dismissed, with immediate effect.”
http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20131006/editorial/Why-Anton-Refalo-has-to-go.489144
To date, the Minister has not resigned, nor was he dismissed. Where does that leave us about the accountability left in the Labour government?
With Arriva’s departure or booting-out, the Times of Malta’s mission was accomplished. Now back to hibernation and falling print circulation figures.
Taken on its own, the implications of the sale of citizenship are far-reaching. With the EU parliament’s debate and vote (and the opinion expressed by Viviane Reding, Vice-President of the European Commission), the implications are massive and exponentially more significant than they were in December. Today’s headlines in the international press are proof of this.
Any serious newspaper would have analysed and expressed a view not only about the scheme but also about the vote and the stand taken by the PM. The Times of Malta chooses to ignore these in its editorial. By contrast, the Independent spoke about the issue five times in the last six days in its editorial.
Now Joseph Muscat set Malta on a collision course with the EU.
It’s not just the President of the Chamber that needs to give some answers but the entire council.

There was another true gentleman who was the brains behind the setting up and eventual great success of the Malta Financial Services Authority.
This gentleman resigned earlier on as soon as the Prime Minisiter said IIP.
