“Wiehed biss?”: somebody seems upset that there weren’t more migrants injured in the riot

Listen to this very brief iNews (internet news media owned by the General Workers Union) video and check out the disappointed voice of the man who says “Wiehed biss?” when talking about the numbers of those injured.
You’d think they’d have had the sense to edit that out.

I despise anything to do with the GWU but I think he was probably just surprised that given how huge the riot was only one illegal immigrant was injured.
I agree that it was unprofessional to use those words or not edit them out but more because it just sounds stupid. Sort of like the villagers gossiping at the kazin.
They are not illegal immigrants – – they are asylum seekers.
Asylum rejected. That makes them ILLEGAL immigrants.
John Dalli must be so pleased. He will be meeting his nemesis again. And Giovanni Kessler is no pushover. He worked as “procuratore della Repubblica” ( district attorney) right there in the Badlands(Mafia country) Caltanisetta,, Sicily – yes , about 100kms north of Mellieha.
It doesn’t mean that the person involved was disappointed. He could also be surprised that after a riot there was only one person injured.
It depends on what you want to understand.

Have we ever seen a seemingly unconscious patient being dragged out into an ambulance instead of being put on a stretcher first ? The scene – and the mentality – are reminiscent of some scene in ‘Cry Freedom’.
The immediate ‘SSHHH!!’ straight after his comment. Priceless.
How can anyone justify illegal immigrants (yes illegal because their application was rejected) rioting and protesting, hurling objects and insults at the security forces and insulting Malta and the Maltese ?
If their application for asylum was rejected (including the appeals) why have they not been deported ? As far as I know Nigeria is a democratic country and their are no wars there.
They are rejected asylum seekers who are then kept in detention so they can be returned to their country of origin.
However due to difficult relations between Malta and these countries, this is made difficult, but not impossible.
So if in the meantime they are kept in degrading conditions, it isn’t exactly their fault, and they do not have that many options but to protest.
Are you an expert in audio video recordings? How do you know what was said and who said it? You heard nothing. You’re just spreading rumors and hate. Its the same people who claim that the Mosta animal killer is a Muslim or that Al Qeada killed a christian girl and stuffed a crucifix down her throat.
Nigeria is not a unified state that treats people equal. The people fleeing here are part of the minority Igbo. Google is a click away.
The politics of and conditions in detention are the issue. It’s hardly surprising people riot if you treat them like animals. If you are genuinely interested read about the Stanford prison experiment. If you just want to flaunt idioticy, call on one of those Super One talk shows.
Participant observation could answer your question. If you wish, I can arrange to have you locked up for months with nothing to do except dwell on your desperation.
I did not break any laws. I have never been arrested for violence and I most certainly never insulted the police nor have I ever formed part of a violent riot.
That is why I offered to arrange to have you locked up – because you don’t deserve it and because you wish to why a riot broke out.
There is no better teacher than experience, or so they say.
A protest is planned next Saturday at 11am on the Sliema Front. This is being organised by Animal Rights Activists and a big turnout is expected.
The protest was sparked by the recent discovery of a number of dogs being kept in small cages in an abandoned farm in the south of Malta. Although the dogs were being fed and given water daily, they were not allowed to leave their cages, some of which housed 5 to 10 dogs per cage.
There was also strong reaction to video footage which this newspaper has obtained, showing how the dogs were beaten, kicked and tazered when the people responsible for the farm tried entering the cages. One of the dogs was so badly beaten, that he was pulled out from the cage being carried by two men. The animal’s condition is still unknown.
Many commentators on the message boards are asking for tougher sentencing by the courts in cases involving cruelty to animals.
Meanwhile…
Just for the sake of fairness, I heard the same comment while watching the video on The Times website. http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20140225/local/disturbance-at-detention-centre.508305
