Ah, here he is: the First Man, Edgar Preca

Malta is about to discover what it means to have a First Man, the president’s consort. And Edgar Preca is about to discover what it means to have a public role and an official position, and to busy himself with the servants at the Palace and the Community Chest Fund.
Get to know him. From 4.18 onwards.

The First Man. He can hardly speak Maltese, jigifieri, can he speak English, jigifieri?
Can he move from point A to point B for the annual Fun Run?
Then he’s in.
These are our standards, my dear ciccio. And these peasants get to lord it over us in the palaces and country houses once lived in by the flower of European and British nobility. This is progress, I am told.
Tureeeeeezmu
Merilwiz
Yes yes ghaRRghar …
She cannot speak Maltese.
He actually does sound like he might be more comfortable in English, but I’m not sure honestly, I’ve never heard him speak before.
Jigifieri she can do a very good job jigifieri. Mr. Jigifieri.
He is as boring as as watching paint dry.
Did he say that they have a daughter attending University and they (the parents) take it in turns to drop her off at University or pick her up? OMG. No wonder she believes in children’s allowance until the age of 23.
Anyway, their daughter should have a state-paid chauffeur now to take her wherever she wants.
Jigifieri ara kemm qed tinkwieta miskina u nahseb anqas qed torqod bhalissa minhabba in-nuqqas ta’ medicini u l-kjuwijiet kbar l-isptar jigifieri.
The same situation as in the UK. The wife is the queen but the husband is not the king. We were used to having Agatha Barbara as a spinster and there was not a first man.
I like the way in which he peppers his speech with all those “igifieri” and “perkazu”.
What’s the point of marrying at 50 years of age (or more in this case) when you don’t even find the time to spend a Saturday night free with your husband without the Qriema and Luqin pestering around.
I mean…jigifieri…tnaddaf id-dar..I mean jigifieri…she is a work horse, jien naf, jigifieri…I mean. San Anton Palace take note and stock up on the Sgrassatore ghax thobb tnaddaf Mrs. Coleiro Preca.
San Gorg Preca, idhol ghalina u ghid lill-neputi jaqtaghha.
Ok – I just realised that, given the age, it is not. Ignore my comment.
How progressive and liberal: she has to do the cleaning and the shopping, as well as taking care of him, it appears. It would be interesting to know what he means by “trid tlahhaq mieghi”…
Shouldn’t the equivalent of First Lady be First Gentleman? First Man makes him sound like Adam in the Garden of Eden.
Ah. It’s “Mari l-wijs” not as I previously thought “Marie …Louise.” Interesting window.
I’m convinced this is a stop-gap measure by Joseph Muscat.
Angle a.i. exposed and angle a.ii thwarted.
A renegotiation of convenience.
The country deserves this and wants it. 80% of the idiots out there we call ‘voters’ will say that he’s a ‘humble, and down to earth man’. ‘Minn taghna’.
They have no remote clue how risible this is on an international level.
Jigifieri,jigifieri,dan hu jigifieri.
Edgar Preca, who came across tens of thousand of euros thanks to GonziPN’s golden handshake at Air Malta.
Part of that money went to buy a nice Mercedes which he hardly uses and the registration letters are SGP – San Gorg Preca, a close relative. What a mind.
Mhux ‘First Gentleman’? More befitting….
Intom veru nies mahruqin.Ma tahmlu lil hadd jekk ma jkunx blu bhalkhom.
IKtar ma tibghatu kummenti ta Dan it tip, ghar ghalikhom.
X’jigifieri?
I would like to congratulate our new President
I’m sure she is going to make a super president a worthy successor to our beloved Dr Abela..
I knew her father very well and I must say that part of her success is surely due to the Christian upbringing of her parents.

He looks like a perfectly normal and decent man. Maybe you should try being a bit less elitist, Daphne? Not only the well-off or upper class people are entitled to climb up the social ladder.
Our first man is a charmer. I can already see him as the life and soul of the dinner party with other heads of state.
Watch the negative points add up on the total sum of international diplomatic seating arrangements.
Like with like.
Is there any Presidential couple around that matches, or comes close to, this?
Another first in mega-lows.
Everything is so flawed, beginning with Labour’s fraudulent misrepresentation of its programme to the electorate and all the unethical, illegal and amoral acts that got them into the position they were aiming for since before the elections.
Just because they haven’t yet been nailed for their acts doesn’t validate them.
Not now. Not ever.
jigifieri she ken du verj gud gob
I wonder…… if the wife is referred to the First Lady shouldn’t the Husband be referred to as the First Gentleman?
“It-tindif tad-dar u x-xiri tad-dar, dan kollu trid taghmlu hi”.
Another example of our progressive, liberal, “most feminist” government.
U iva, soon he won’t have to cook for her and chauffeur the daughter around. He’ll have state-paid staff to do that. Gives him plenty of time to brush up his English and Maltese, which are both very poor.
Shame on you….what a disgrace!! Why they got married later in life is definitely none of our business. I am also sure she can speak (and write) better English than most of you. All you do is complain and moan. Truth is that most people, PN voters included, know the kind of woman she is and they totally believe in her.
Forget partisan politics….you should all be ashamed of yourselves. You are only harming the party you vote for with this nonsense. Umbat tmorru l-quddies kull nhar ta Hadd tibilghu l-Ostja!
Fuck you all…….I bet you all can read this in English …..especially you ugly bitch !
