How petty and embarrassing. This man really is stuck in the school playground.

All together now: CRINGE.

    Gutted!

Let’s hope he still gets his second republic.

    Whatever that means.

How exactly is Joseph Muscat empowered to unilaterally and solely effect changes to the President’s role?

How can the President be both superior to and part of cabinet?

How is the President expected to effect impartial discretion in matters that should supercede the interests of the Parliament and cater for the inherent interests of the Presidential role? That is, to independently assure and guarantee legality of Government’s actions?

How is the President in this irregular newly defined out-of-the-hat role expected to carry out the role of President, never mind her role as Minister?

The comments on the Times, in all their usual wisdom, fail to allude to the fact that the appointment of the President itself in this fashion is incorrect and irregular.

The newly defined role has not been carved out in accordance with the stipulations of the constitution.

I beg to stand corrected, but I see a further new intended illegality to Joseph Muscat’s actions:

      Not only is his Government there by misrepresentation and fraudulent claim;

but the actions put in place by this newly defined role, that should regulate his Government, have actually been rendered ineffective in one fell swoop by this appointment.

Seeing as the more elaborate the name chosen for a country, the less democratic it is, I would opt to re-name Malta to reflect the new political scenario:

“The Meritocratic and Democratic Liberal Second Republic of Malta, Gozo, Comino and Filfla – Protector of Europe”

Here are other examples of names of hypocritical names chosen for other countries:

      “Democratic People’s Republic of Korea”

      “People’s Republic of China”

      “Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela”

      His SECOND republic?

If he plans to proceed with the design of his second republic in the same way as he did with his Citizenship for Sale, we might reach the Version 100 Republic by the end of this legislature.

This man has not enjoyed his youth.

And now he is living to regret it… scrap that…to make us regret it.

The only countries that have numerous numeric republics are France (resulting from actual and violent revolutions) and Italy (due to corrupt and unmanageable political systems).

  6. Jaqq says:

Well, what is really great about being a ‘ýoung’ prime minister? Does he realise that his very CHILDISH ideas, statements and, more serious, his decisions does not really make us proud of having him as our prime minister! Malta is already regretting the decision it took a year ago. What were we thinking? Shame on us!

I have noticed that the government appoints people on the basis of age. All they boast about is having the:
    -Youngest Prime Minister
    -Youngest President

Were are the credentials of these people? Why is age the only important factor here? Why do they always want to show off instead of finding the right people?

I wonder if the new President of Malta is going to be the youngest head of state in Europe too? Isa hey, pajjiz zghazugh bi tmexxija zaghzugha. Anke jekk her new Excellency was around during the Mintoff and KMB years. Tal-biza dawn in-nies.

  14. bob-a-job says:

“Sono sempre stato io il più giovane”

Quoting that, one would think that he was youngest from eternity when in truth is he didn’t even manage to be that for a full year.
