Life for the Malta Police Force has just become immeasurably more thrilling

Published: March 6, 2014 at 1:48am

At around half-past eight this evening I received this email from somebody in my old home-town.

Currently there are six plain-clothes policemen in front of a block of flats next to where we live. I spoke to one of the tenants and she told me that they are escorting a Chinese lady who is applying for citizenship under the IIP.

She is residing at Flat 4, 208/209 Tower Road, Sliema. The officers in plain clothes are blocking one of the garage entrances and they have parked a couple of their cars in the parking spaces reserved for the tenants of other flats.

Please send cameras now.

Many people have been misled by the government’s acquiescence to making changes to the IIP. I keep reading comments online about gvern li jisma and gvern umli. What they don’t or won’t realise is that the law has not been amended yet and passports are already being sold under the original law including secrecy clause. The expected uproar in the media about this deceit is non-existent.

  2. Gahan says:

Six officers at €30 an hour for at least three days, and three cars at the same rate, that boils down to around €20,000 for a Henley and Partners passport.

Who’s paying for the escort services of this IIP H&P exclusive client?

The same procedure was seen for a whole week on top of Xemxija Hill about two weeks ago with a couple of police cars visibly parked continuously on dangerous double yellow lines in front of a block of flats.

We are certainly living in Chinese “interesting times”.

The same procedure was followed some time ago at a block of flats on Xemxija hill. Evidently they are shielding these foreigners and would come in useful to prove some mock “non-effective” residence when they apply for a Malta passport.

That’s neat. Blocking a garage in a residential area just because someone is rich and can buy our citizenship.

The Police Assistant Commissioner who declared that the PM is a PM “bil-bajd” should actually look it up and see what it ACTUALLY means. Let me assist him in his search. Here is a journalist who really has “balls”; this is what it really means having “balls”.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/russia/10679577/Russia-Today-presenter-resigns-live-on-air.html

Now imagine if any one at Super One would do that, or at TVM, for that matter. Would you imagine Peppi Azzopardi doing something of the sort? Would you imagine the PL MP backbenchers doing something like this? We know that there are some of them in Parliament who are not happy with how things are being managed. Having “balls” means standing up for what is right and just, completely different from the PM having balls and completely different from the kind of “balls” that Diva Debono and JPO-Botox have. These two charlatans, stood up “to be counted” not because they believed in democracy, but because they knew that Dr. Muscat would eventually reward them for their “balls”. They “stood up” because of their frustration and their inability to control it.

The PM has “balls” because he loves to distribute ice-buns to all those promised something before the election. Having “balls” for him means going off to watch a football match (with the expenses being burdened by the tax-payer) instead of being present to “give evidence” in the Banana Court he established in Parliament to ridicule the Leader of the Opposition. Having “balls” for the Socialist means making fun of the Leader of the Opposition and making a mockery out of the Presidency and the Gieh il-Repubblika Honours list. That’s having “balls” for you.

I could not imagine this happening in the UK in a million years. Frightening what this government is doing, instead of investigating and solving crime, the police are tasked to perform irrelevant administrative duties. That is why Malta has a high rate of unsolved homicides.

  7. P Bonnici says:

By the way Daphne, under the PN, life in the police force wasn’t particularly thrilling either. The police under the PN were a law unto themselves. You can certainly vouch for this yourself.

  8. This is a government that will not kneel before the foreigner. Of course, there are foreigners who are more equal than others.

  9. Question says:

Who is paying for this overtime?

Seen near tunnels beneath Tal-Qroqq: a convoy of four police motorcycle outriders with sirens at full blast and four official cars accompanying a car flying the Chinese flag.

I think that every applicant that is identified should have his/her name published in their original country’s newspapers.

  12. francesca says:

Walked past yesterday and they were still blocking the garage, cat calling and smoking – so professional. Guess they are all learning from our leader.

  13. Angus Black says:

    Six or seven?

Taking turns looking after the Chinese lady?

I hope that when she goes back to China she will tell how impressed she was by being protected so well by important men.

When do we expect the names of these passport buyers to be published?

  14. Christian says:

Just passed by block and the plain clothes policemen still there but are now in the garage with the door wide open….

  15. gaetano pace says:

Was it not in the air that Government intends creating the Tourism Police ? Facts are now illustrating the reason for such a Corp. It is in the offing. Pity only the Commissioner can speak Chinese when it comes to the question of who is doing with what in the Force.

  16. Julian CT says:

Looks like these millionaire commies are about to retain their cultural traits whilst applying for their new passports … Why? Worried they might feel homesick afterwards? A throwback to days gone by methinks.
