Times of Malta reported on the new government-appointed board of Grand Harbour Regeneration Corporation:

Also sitting on the board of the corporation, which is responsible for various construction projects including the building of the new parliament, are Ray Grech, a consultant in marketing, and accountants Frans Bajada and Marisa Ciappara.

Other than Mintoffian fossil John Dalli (the subject of some understandable identity confusion), whose sister-in-law Helena is a cabinet minister, I see that the board includes Marisa Ciappara, whose name appeared in the newspapers in yet another story in the last few days. She is a founder committee member of the Labour Party’s organizational ghetto for women: Nisa Laburisti.

    Just as an aside,

Matteo Renzi engaged Renzo Piano to design and manage the refurbishment of all state schools in Italy, he also put on auction 140 state limousines previously used by ministers and their top brass.

Muscat went to Paris to advise Piano how to do it and rents his own car to himself.

    Sweet.

  2. P Shaw says:

Marisa Ciappara and Carmen Ciantar (Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando’s current wife) are both in Nisa Laburisti and they are first cousins. Both are from Zebbug.

John Dalli (tal-Hunters Tower) is the right person for board of Grand Harbour Regeneration Corporation. He is an expert on harbours.

He was, together with then Mintoffian minister (now Minister of Tourism) Karmenu Vella, fined for entering Mellieha Bay without informing customs and unloading truck loads of stuff from their two yachts. It only happened because there was a fuss in the press.

The courts were lenient with them as they were merely fined for not declaring to Customs rather than found guilty of smuggling, although there were seen by tens of people on that summer afternoon when Dalli owned the Tunny Net restaurant.

So yes, John Dalli for a harbour project.

  4. Gel says:

You omitted to mention that Ray Grech too is a Taghna Lkoll appointment to the board. He is Louis Grech’s nephew, his brother’s son.

  6. TinaB says:

What the hell is Claudette Abela Baldacchino wearing?

L-aqwa li libset ‘is-sjuwt’ ghal okkazjoni.

  7. pablo says:

I love the photo. It captures the charisma of the men and women in whose hands we have placed the future of this land for generations to come.

  8. Osservatore says:

WTF (excuse the expletive) is each of them wearing?

  9. Matthew S says:

Why has Malta been saddled with such an ugly gene pool?

    I mean, LOOK AT THEM.

  10. Francesca says:

This photo is so hard on the eyes for so many reasons – what are they wearing? They’ve taken fuddy duddy to a whole new level.

  11. Antonia Borg says:

I wonder if these people have any sartorial sense. Nobody in his or her right frame of mind, especially if anything larger than a size 10, should wear such horrendous stripes.

    • Maltease says:

Wide horizontal stripes are a big no-no for her frame. Brown suede snow boots in that sun? And with that outfit?

Someone didn’t have time to shave her legs.

She also desperately needs a vibrant colour to her outfit (the same can be said of Marisa Ciappara).

We’re a nation of dull colours and we’re afraid to stand out – reflects the national inferiority complex.

    • TinaB says:

I bet that even Lara Stone would look horrendous wearing that outfit, boots and all.

Very many Maltese women just cannot get it into their heads that it is perfectly all right not to have a perfect body as long as one adapts one’s wardrobe according to one’s age and shape.

  12. Manuel says:

And I read that Mrs. Muscat’s friend, who was whisked to New York on a handsome salary, paid by you and me, is also having a private activity on the side. Nice.

  13. silvio farrugia says:

Correct me if I am wrong but short fat people should never wear striped clothes. It makes them worse.

  14. Pippo says:

So Michelle Muscat Tanti is officially a representative of the other Michelle, and WE are parting with 60,000 euro annually to subsidise this cosy relationship. How convenient.

  15. Joe Fenech says:

Yardbirds are not really starving these days.
