Note to Mrs Mizzi: ’emarginati’ translates as marginalised, not as emarginated

It was lost in translation for Marlene Mizzi and her ‘although I’m heterosexual’ video. She described members of minority groups as being “emarginated”.
Because of the similar spelling, she clearly believes this means the same thing as the Maltese emarginati.
But it doesn’t.
Emarginatitranslates as marginalised. Emarginated means something with a notched rim or similar. Mrs Mizzi could, of course, be going to some very wild parties and seeing some very unusual notched rims, but somehow, I don’t think so.

“Emarginati” could now mean “covered in margarine” in the new Maltese language of this 21st century.
Here is an example, badly typed on my American English keyboard:
“amilna hafna sangwitches al i’ xallata, u bdijna lewel bil hobs emarginati.”
She is claiming that she caused Ryan Air to reduce the fine for not printing a boarding pass, what a joke! According to her this was because it was discriminatory towards those who don’t own a computer. Yet the full fine still applies if you do not check in online, it is only reduced if you forget to take the boarding pass with you.

Oh right, in that case Mrs Mizzi is competing against a very emarginated but unprincipled candidate.
Mind you, horsing around and rim notching may also have milder connotations.

How can I ever trust her with such an important and prominent appointment as that of MEP when she does not even know what she is talking about. Poor old selfie.
This morning I was shocked when I spotted Marlene Mizzi being filmed against the countryside views just in front of the Nuncio’s home at Tal-Virtu’ – there was the cameraman, a lady and Marlene trying to impress her prospective viewers by wearing glittering trousers and an exaggerated make-up to make herself appear much younger than she actually is.
She wasn’t feeling too comfortable when I saw her. Apart from her comments in public, she remains one of the most unimpressive candidates for the forthcoming MEPs Elections. It looks pretty obvious that her engagement in politics that really matter are definitely over. Not that PL has others who are qualitatively better than Marlene.
