  1. Mynah says:

I’d hate to think of this bastard getting off or getting a reduced sentence because his lawyer used the ‘pre-judged in the press’ and ‘no chance of a fair trial’ gambits.

[Daphne – It can’t happen. That myth was put about by the defence counsel of criminals in the dock, to stop press comment which they felt might adversely affect perception of their clients.]

    • Manuel says:

If the ‘prejudged in the press’ notion were to be true, then the case against the abuse by ex-priests at St. Joseph Home, should have been thrown out of the window immediately.

Mr. Lawrence Grech, on eof the alleged abused persons, aided by Lou Bondi and other journalists, made great use of the media to put forward their case, even when the same case was sub judice.

  2. M. says:

Why did he park his car off the main road if he intended to commit suicide? Surely it would have been easier to drive off the cliff at speed if suicide was what he had in mind?

  3. Harry Purdie says:

Slippery snakes always find a way to their prey and then escape.

  4. Jozef says:

How diligent of him, parking the car off the main road.

  5. Natalie says:

Did this ‘pussy’ take all of 12 hours to walk the whole of that marked route?

I walked the length of Malta carrying a heavy backpack within 8 hours.

  6. Just Saying says:

Where was the girl’s body found and where was the point from which she jumped?

  7. marianne mercieca says:

The key to the mystery is the jacket which went down with Lisa Marie.

    • GozoJoe says:

A light object placed above a much heavier one will fall in the same place as well . Try it yourself: put a stamp or a piece of paper above a book and let them drop. They will land in the same place . Lisa must have had his jacket on her – it is cold at 4 a.m.

[Daphne – She couldn’t have been wearing it when she went over, not even on her shoulders. He would not have allowed that to happen, because of what it contained.]

  8. Ivan says:

Are we sure that it’s a 40m jump? Looks so much closer to me.

Still, a man is in danger of dying after falling a flight of stairs. So whether it’s 30, 40 or 20 metres, the extent of his injuries is very questionable.

[Daphne – Aren’t you forgetting that the girl who was with him died from massive trauma after that fall?]

    • Ivan says:

Exactly. He cannot have jumped and survived unscratched.

What I questioned was whether it’s a 40m drop we’re seeing as from the pictures it looks less.

However, as I’ve already said, he cannot have survived falling the height we’re seeing.

    • bob-a-job says:

It is obvious that a telephoto lens was used.

A telephoto lens will invariably squash distances making the depth of field appear more shallow.

  9. Mallia says:

It should be noted that Lisa Marie suffered massive injuries despite ending up in a tree which would have broken her fall a bit. Yet this creep states he ended up on a jagged rock suffering only minor injuries.

  10. Ruth says:

Wouldn’t it have been easier if they ‘jumped’ into the quarry next to where he parked?

As an ‘after thought’, how did he really know that the girl was actually dead, when he “told the constable at the rescue scene, “I screwed it up, I jumped I’m still alive and my friend is dead” unless he checked himself to be sure she was dead?

If he had ‘survived’ the fall, there was a chance she could have too, no? But well, he never ‘jumped’ off from a height of 40m.

  11. I'm no fool says:

I think that he was holding his jacket when he pushed her or she jumped and she grabbed his jacket before falling down either

    1. To pull him down with her

    Or

    2. To save herself from falling.

this is why she looked up at him when she was on her way down.
