Meanwhile, in other news

Two dozen people, including a former member of parliament, have been arrested in Italy on suspicion of gathering arms to force the secession of the Veneto region and turn it into an autonomous state.

They took their inspiration from Crimea, apparently, but had to take matters into their own hands because there is no equivalent of Russia for back-up.

They converted a bulldozer into a tank with makeshift cannon and, Reuters reported last night, intended to use it in an assault on St. Mark’s Square.

The (Labour) government has appointed Alfred Grixti CEO of the Social Welfare Foundation and Times of Malta describes him as a former headmaster.

Well, actually, the more salient biographical qualification, which the newspaper doesn’t mention, is that he was the Labour Party’s education secretary and a committed and prominent official and activist.

It is terribly bad strategy for gay people to say they want to be treated like everyone else but then proceed to reject social integration (except with camp followers and fag hags – and that’s just the men) and instead speak about ‘the gay community’.

Some lesbians in Germany have taken this to a new extreme, with a ‘lesbians only’ graveyard in Berlin, with room for “up to 80 lesbians” (I quote the news reports).

This is the brainchild of a German national association of “elderly lesbians”, called Safia, which says that it will be a place “where the lesbian community can live together in the after life”.

Real life is beginning to spoof satirical fiction.

This was my favourite news item yesterday, picked up by Times of Malta:

A landlord demanding rent arrears threatened tenants and German police with a whirring chainsaw, a police spokesman said on Wednesday.

The frightened tenants called police to the scene, and the 45-year-old man eventually dropped the chainsaw when the officers showed their guns.

Francois Hollande has made Segolene Royal, who he lived with for 20 years and who is the mother of his four children, his minister of the environment and energy.

She had been the Socialist candidate for president seven years ago, but lost.

This man seems intent on complicating his life.

Of the 14 palm trees that are going to be removed from the esplanade before the Auberge de Castille, to make way for a statue of Mintoff, five are infested (not infected, as was reported) with red palm weevils. The others will be replanted elsewhere, and a monument to a red weevil will go up in their place.

Will there be a public call for tenders and models for the monument to the red weevil?

Meanwhile, Jo meets Goodluck Jonathan to discuss migration. I guess the local ‘gay community’ sees no problem in apparently-LGBT-friendly Jo dealing with decidedly anti-LGBT Jonathan as long as the number of Nigerians in Malta can be controlled.

    • ciccio says:

Nigerians coming into Malta “illegally” can now declare to belong to LGBT. That should be enough reason for Jo not to “push them back” because they face serious rights issues in their country.

Is this what they meant by efficiency? Unlimited powers to Jo and his Parliamentary Secretary for MEPA.

Iceland put these kind of extremists in charge whose interpretation of modern liberalism is starting to morph into something else. Many in the lesbian movement — those that have turned it into political agitation — have become the new inquisition deciding who can do what.

This is not too different to what the Greens have done in many countries where they have made dubious ‘environmental’ measures an unquestionable dogma and made the state their main client. In fact, if you dare say that you think global warming is cyclical and not man-made you are a ‘denier’ thus drawing on the usual context within which this word is used ‘Holocaust denier’.

  9. viva n nort koreja says:

It is ok then for Icelanders to bring up gender-neutral children in an unnatural environment but God forbid someone pays for sex or watches pornography.

As it happens I think the latter two are damaging to society as well, but I don’t pretend to impose my views on others as these people do. They even shame people – a throwback to Medieval times when people were shamed publicly for not abiding by the moral code.

I saw an MTV documentary on donor children, one of whom was the child of a now separated lesbian couple and surprise surprise, ‘their’ child was lesbian too. In fact one of the lesbians who later turned heterosexual blames the other partner for her child becoming a lesbian too.

MTV produced the documentary to highlight how normal not having a father is but in my eyes I found it heartbreaking seeing this now lesbian daughter desperately searching for her donor father, who as it happened she was legally barred from searching for. This is pure madness.

  10. Carmelo Micallef says:

As a gesture of national unity, in the spirit of our new pres., shall we name the site previously occupied by ‘Red Weevils’ as the ‘Freedom Day Pissoir’ ?

  11. AE says:

Wasn’t Alfred Grixti the mayor of Zebbug under whose watch those beautiful orange trees which lined up the main road leading into Zebbug (Vjal il-Helsien) were uprooted?

Apparently they claimed that the roots of the trees were going into neighbouring houses.

Whether that is true or not I do not know but I am sure another solution could have been found. That really was a sad day.

I really thought that until then Zebbug stood out as a village with one of the prettiest and most welcoming entrances.

The trees were replaced by these ugly street lights which if I recall well, did not have bulbs for a while as the Local Council failed to budget for them. To try and appease the upset locals, very young olive trees have since been placed in pots near the street lights.

They really do not have the same effect as those beautiful orange trees. What is it with these people? why do they seem intent on uprooting the few trees we have?

Never thought I’d ever say this but boy is she right on this one. We’re back to the PAPB.

Abuse is by definition ridding oneself of others’ rights, the minister gets to call it regular. Rules, if I’m not mistaken, shouldn’t ever provide harm to others.

Yet the minister will see to it that it can be done.

How absolutely true to form in the Labour sense will that be.

So now we’ll have an abundance of welding equipment within the area if the LNG tanker ever leaks. Lovely.
