Merilwees is moofink

De Merilwees she is moofink out of her office. Two great big (red) removals lorries have been there much of the day, outside the Social Policy Ministry, with boxes of documents and furniture being loaded into them.

Remember how Malta Today had reported that Gonzi stole the antiques from the Auberge de Castille when he moved out? That was a low moment even for the lowest newspaper in Malta after L-Orizzont and KullHadd.

I suggest that they now dispatch a hot reporter – like Miriam Dalli (the other one), who’ll brief her crush, the government chief of communications – to check on Merilwees and see what she’s taking with her.

Surely a change of minister shouldn’t necessitate two massive removals lorries and a whole day of packing? This is not a personal home or office or fiefdom – oh, sorry, it probably is.

It was there all day yesterday, too. It was packed with documents.

  2. Reporter says:

Wait! I hope she is not thinking of running for the elections again once her term in office (as President) is over!

I mean, why would she need her constituents’ files, otherwise?

To be unloaded at San Anton?

  4. M. Cassar says:

Wow, she must have quite a huge coffee cup, cereal bowl and spoon, mustn’t she.

Perhaps she also had a personal ergonomic chair and lucky plant.

Wouldn’t the files, stationery and most everything else belong to the Ministry?

Or are we perhaps making the new Minister start from scratch? Labour was always very fair when it came to sharing and fair play wasn’t it?

Reminds me of the gifts in Mintoff’s villa.

  5. Jozef says:

I see this thing about the President of the Republic being de facto minister for social security requires all files to be transferred to the presidency.

No one replaces Marie Louise Coleiro Preca.

  7. Rumplestiltskin says:

Isn’t there a law that prohibits the removal of government documents from official premises? But then maybe these are all private communications by the ex-Minister and President elect.

  8. edgar says:

There are two lorries not one.

  9. Jozef says:

Is this thing legal, can someone displace files belonging to a legal entity which is government ministry?

  10. ciccio says:

It looks like it’s going to take a few big lorries to transport the country’s social conscience from one palace to another.

Actually, there are two removals trucks in the photo, not one.

  12. Joseph Borg says:

If the lady is removing files from her ministry will she be taken to court for the removal of public files?

  13. Mark says:

That’s because people who actually do things, not consign their work to consultants paid by the thousands, will, have a lot of documents.

[Daphne – Yes, Mark, and if they are ministerial documents they belong to the ministry and should stay there for the next minister to see to. And if they are not ministerial documents, then what were they doing in a ministry building? Marie Louise Coleiro doesn’t WORK. She’s one of those people who get off on distributing favours and feeling powerful and benevolent. History is littered with them. Their motivation is suspect: ultimately, they are doing it for themselves, to make themselves feel good.]

Two big (red) removal lorries ….

  15. Dave says:

How many Dallis are there in the Labour Party?

  16. mister says:

Documents? You mean “I owe you’s” towards her constituents and gobbs to return the favour for their votes.

  17. Dissident says:

She is taking il fajls tal-pjaciri with her.

  18. C C says:

Not to mention what is moving out of San Anton Palace as well. I counted three removals trucks this morning while in the gardens with my child.

  19. Fredu says:

Auditor General, please note, take action and check inventories of the Ministry, San Anton Palace and Verdala Palace.

Remember the Cachia Zammit episode when he was charged by the police and sued in court for taking ministry files home just to work on them?
