This article was in The New York Times international edition yesterday. If anybody can find a link to the same article on line, please send it in. I tried (though not very hard…).

From the FAQs section of Zenturo Ltd., 60/2, Melita Street, Valletta VLT12, Malta

Q: Do I need to move to Malta or live in Malta for a minimum number of days during the year to qualify for the program?
A: Applicants do not need to move to Malta or live in the country. However, applicants should prove a genuine link with Malta as evidenced by, for example, having club memberships, at least a couple of days visit, showing water and electricity bills, or similar. Our attorneys can assist you with finding a way to meet the requirement. Please contact us for additional information.
The examples given above for proving a “genuine link with Malta” are nothing short of fraudulent – the company is advising its clients on ways to circumvent the law.
Is it possible that nobody has read these FAQs? Or rather, if these FAQs have been read, is it possible that nobody thought it fit to bring this fraudulent advice to the public’s attention?
This “due diligence” carried out by the same people who “assist (applicants) with finding a way to meet” a so called “genuine link with Malta” like a “club membership” is a sham, a travesty of values.
The above should read:
‘Our attorneys can assist you with finding a LOOPHOLE to meet the requirement’.
It stinks to high heaven and if the opposition falters and fails to call this stinking corrupt deal to sell EU citizenship to millionaires who are corrupt themselves coming from corrupt countries run by corrupt dictators, then I would assume that the opposition has been also bought by the millionaires or their Malta representatives.
But then I know that the PN has always put our national interests before anything else and that was why we voted them in power for 30 years. Yes, 30 years, since 1981-1987 the PN were voted for by the absolute majority but the MLP usurped power by means of gerrymandering.
This time round our MLP now PL banana growers are planning to ‘gerrymander’ the forthcoming elections by some 10,000 Chinese votes. This would be a coup d’état.
A relative of mine living in the US is going to renounce Maltese citizenship and use a US passport. The “harassment” she got when she travelled to and from a Scandinavian country is indescribable.
For all its worth:
