The BBC is running a programme about Viktor Yanukovych’s corruption. Bear in mind that this is the man our government intended to decorate with Malta’s highest honour, the Gieh ir-Repubblika.
The only reason that didn’t happen is because Yanukovych called off his visit to Malta at the 11th hour, as the revolution against his autocracy was beginning.
The Russian politician Valentina Matviyenko, who was ambassador to Malta two decades ago, made it to the palace in Valletta and received the honour last December
She is now on the EU/USA official sanctions list because of her involvement in the troubles in Ukraine.

Let me remind you of some salient points:
The so-called ‘Orange Revolution’ in Ukraine took place last century.
Viktor Yanukovych had been democratically elected in 2010. Elections were due next year. Rule of Law, anyone?
When trade talks with the EU failed last year, the expansionist EU backed protests that eventually turned into riots. There is ample evidence that the West subverted the Ukrainian government and supported extremists in the violent coup. Catherine Ashton herself joined the protests.
Imagine if the Russian foreign minister joins violent anti-EU protests leading to a coup that topples the Greek government. Imagine then if the Russians imposed a puppet regime – in Greece – and called it legitimate.
As for the lies about the situation in Ukraine, the events in Crimea and the Russian invasion that never was, only fools believe the British and US war propaganda.

What Kev have said is true. Yanykovich was democratically elected. Why the hell you think that whatever US does is righteous?
These days, anyone with half a brain is able to see through the fog of war and discern what is truly happening – as long as one has not been on a staple of corporate trash parroting government lies.

What about the leaked telephone conversations with Boroness Ashton and Yulia Tymoshenko? They have been uploaded on Youtube and other media. You don’t need to follow RT there are many other sources where one could get decent news and not British and American propaganda. Well said Kev
Just be careful not to switch from ‘British and American propaganda’ to Russian propaganda thinking it to be ‘decent news’. I happen to have a couple of Ukrainian contacts who gave me an idea of what is happening, and it happens to be closer to what you described as ‘propaganda’. Definitely not as clear-cut, but closer nonetheless.
Calculator, do these “Ukrainian contacts who gave [you] an idea of what is happening,” happen to form part of the pro-EU, anti-Russian minority?
If so, I advise you to locate some other contacts in the eastern or southern part of the country and listen to the other side of the story – that of the majority.
