Malta Energija Pozittiva has just sent me an email

positive energy

I have just received an email from something called MALTA ENERGIJA POZITTIVA. It’s selling the Labour message (of course) but it doesn’t tell me who’s actually writing to me, whether it’s the government or the Labour Party. I have to assume it’s the Labour Party because it’s a campaign message signed by ‘Daniel Micallef – Campaign Team’ (he doesn’t say whose) but perhaps I shouldn’t be taking that for granted because it’s promoting the Labour government and not the Labour Party’s EP candidates.

The email is reproduced below. Lots of you will have received the same one. It contains the inevitable lie we have come to expect (see previous post re Konrad Mizzi’s 30%): that “petrol and diesel prices have been slashed”.

The petrol of petrol will be down by a fabulous two cents a litre next month, and the price of diesel has stayed exactly the same, and will be doing so until the end of the year even if the cost of fuel falls on the international market.

You might be able to spot more. I’m kind of tired right now.

Dear Friend,

We all welcome good news, especially when it affects our everyday lives.

Labour came to government promising to make life easier for Maltese families. We’re again delivering on our promises, bringing stability, and leaving you with more money in your pockets.

These are just some of the initiatives that are making a difference in your lives:

– Petrol and diesel prices have been slashed and will remain locked for the rest of the year.
– Prices of 12kg gas cylinders have been reduced by €1.30 to €17.10, and will remain fixed until September.
– Electricity tariffs have been reduced by 25% and water tariffs by 5%.
– The Government is refunding the illegal tax paid on imported vehicle registration previously imposed by the Nationalist administration.
– Stipends have been increased and strengthened.
– The Children’s Allowance has been adjusted to better meet the needs of families.
– Provided free childcare service for working parents and families.
– The top rate of income tax for people earning less than €60,000 has been cut to 29%.
– The prices of school uniforms are being cut by 10% and will remain at this reduced price for the next 5 years.
All these measures will leave more money in your pockets.

This is a government that is ensuring stability and that is delivering on its promises. The country is moving in the right direction.

This is only a fraction of what has been achieved with your support in just the first year of a Labour government.

We have started turning the country around and putting it on the path to success.

The journey is long, and many challenges lie along the way.

Now, we are asking for your support once more.

On 24 May, join us and help continue along this journey to keep making a difference in your lives.

Daniel Micallef
Campaign Team

Why does this big-hearted government not concentrate on sustaining the economy and creating jobs instead? We’re quite capable of handling our own finances, thank you very much.

I’m sure you’ll appreciate the freshness of ‘the next five years’ as retained in every one of Joseph’s speeches, now one year on. It’ll be ‘the next five years’ next year too, and the next, for a long time to come.

You’ll get used to it in time. Perhaps one day he’ll even visit you for tea and you’ll be on national TV.

Why are they boasting about the reduction in tax, when this was the planned tax reduction by the previous adminstration?

Daniel from the Campaign Team failed to mention the sale of citizenship, the gas tanker in Marsaxlokk, 30% of Enemalta and the Delimara power station sold to China, 20% of the upcoming power station (no sign of it yet) to be owned by the dictator in Azerbaijan, adoption by same-sex couples (they’re stopping at the same-sex unions).

None of those things, bar the new power station, were in his party’s electoral manifesto last year.

Well I hope the 2c petrol reduction (if you can call 2c a reduction) is not an indication on how our electricity bills will be calculated.

It seems that hard core Labour supporters aren’t that good at maths because I personally am saving jack shit under this government – 2c? Bloody hell, when it falls out of my purse I can’t even be arsed to bend down and pick it up and I am sure I speak for thousands of people.

You may fool half the population in Malta, but you aren’t going to fool me – what a pathetic embarrassing man and government. The only thing I am positive about is the sheer stupidity of those who voted for him.

  14. Sapiens says:

    Dear Friend Daniel,

What Malta needs is not people with more money in their pockets, what Malta needs is more living brain cells in people’s cranial cavaties.

Unless Malta works to have an intelligent, well educated and cultured population, it will never amount to anything, irrespective of how much money is in its peoples’ pockets.

Copernicus was mocked when he said the earth revolves around the sun and not vice versa. The Maltese will remain blind for as long as they continue to naively believe that the world revolves around them. Some people are so blind that they even believe that the world revolves around their village.

They had to refund the “illegal tax paid on imported vehicle registration” last April. Apparently they haven’t refunded a cent so far.

Daphne, at least you were addressed as Dear Friend.

In my case there are staunch L.P. supporters who utter vile remarks when they see me, albeit there are others who stop and talk to me trying to convince me to go back.

[Daphne – That email was addressed to Dear Friend, Michael, because whoever sent it had no idea that email address (info@…) is one of mine. The Labour Party wouldn’t email me at all on the basis that it’s a waste of time, let alone address me as Dear Friend.]

They cannot be consonant and equivocal between themselves. One says bills get cheaper by 25% and 5% an anonoymous bit of dirty Labour propaganda at our expense, says that the rates are going to be 5% and 30%. Which is which ?
