The contempt in which the government holds the electorate to which it is accountable is just beyond belief
Nobody in government, still less the prime minister, is straight with the electorate and feels it owes the electorate an explanation about anything, not even major policy decisions. Read this story in Times of Malta this morning.
We have voted ourselves into the position of feudal serfs, or the Roman proletariat kept quiet with bread and circuses (installment cheques on car VAT and concerts organised by one of Malta’s former leading journalists on retainer to the government) while the people in power get on with doing what they want to do anyway.
Now where did I put that two cents. I must take a long hard look at it to remind myself how lucky I am to have such a nice government which respects the electorate.

They would be admitting that the Nationalist Party were right all along.
This government is making mockery of our intelligence.
I thought this Opposition would be effective.
I was wrong.
I just can’t stand how it’s always the fault of PN. Of course they made many mistakes, but get over it: they’re not in power any more. Direct your ire where it is deserved.
You thought correctly. You were right.
What else does the Opposition need to do?
All these things are being mentioned in all the PN media and activities as well as shared on social media by strategic individuals and groups.
Then it is up to the electorate to make up their mind.
However, I understand your anger or irritation as I feel the same, but you can’t make people listen if they don’t want to.
Another U turn?
We need to be reassured that somebody at Transport Malta is not cashing in.
What’s this sending the Finance Minister playing a part in the EU institutions while acting in a different way here at home? It happened in the selling of the citizenship scheme. Why is it happening again now?
I see permanent major dissent between Scicluna and Muscat. I also see a permanently absent Louis Grech.
Both his mates in Brussels.
I’ve had it up to my eyebrows with this government’s arrogance. Their mindless supporters might not care being treated like mushrooms but the rest of us cannot take being kept in the dark and continually fed bull..it.
I have so given up. Transparency and accountability at their worst. Then they had the cheek to point fingers at the Nationalist government re.transparency and accountability. What scum.

I think it might well be a story leaked to Times of Malta to dupe the residents of Marsaxlokk and the South in the lead up to the 24th May.
Obviously this is a gimmick like so many others promises being slashed out now until election day.
Come 25th May, and everything will be forgotten and the whip will be out again and with a vengeance.
Whichever way the result goes for the MLP. If it is their way, Joe Muscat will mow over us since he will have the backing of his people; If it is not their way, he will roll over with anger and hate.

Let us not forget one important point regarding the approval of the planning MEPA permits.
PA 21/14 approved the “combined cycle gas turbine and liquified natural gas receiving storage and re-gasification facilities”
PA 22/14 approved the “construction of jetty and auxiliary facilities”
During the hearing of those permits the government’s experts did say that the Maritime Impact Assessment has not been carried out as yet.
Quoting from the Times : “the final impact study still has to be carried out” -http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20140324/local/mepa-approves-power-station-gas-storage-facility-permits.511954
What if they have encountered unforeseen (for their little minds) difficulties with the impact assessment.
ALSO, If one had to be finicky about it, the permanent mooring of an LNG tanker and the regular arrival of another tanker which fills it up is not included in the MEPA application description.
Bottom line – the new power station has NOT been approved as yet.
The offshore gas gas facility must be either an urgent plan B – or they never bothered (luckily) to shelf PN’s plans for this FRSU and now they are forced to admit that it is the only logical way ahead.
PA 22/14 approved the “construction of jetty and auxiliary facilities”
Read two jetties running side by side and separated by a minimum distance of six meters. One for pipework, one a double laned causeway for emergency access to the ship and clear access for plant maintenance equipment.
Anything else below LNG safety standards.
Is this a way of telling us that the EU has pulled his ear on this one following Roberta Metsola’s effort in halting this project perhaps?
One u-turn after another and not once has Dr. Muscat admitted that he was wrong and DR. Simon Busuttil was right.
Dr. Muscat has kept secret all major contracts so far stating that it is in the people’s interest not to know the details. Somehow I think, once again, he is twisting his words and means that it is in his interest that people should not know the gory details as they would realize what a deceitful, shameless schemer he turned out to be after convincing them to vote for his 100% anti corruption, ever-listening , meritocratic movement.
Perhaps the fact there was no tender for a project costing 400 million may have raised some eyebrows in Brassil.
Now for the Azeri/ Turk connector, and the scenario is complete.
A pity Libya keeps on playing up for this Government’s purposes: Gasol must be getting nervous for the rest of the plan.
Spot on Tabatha, although that one may be far off in time, Israel and Cyprus want a piece of that pie.
In this case, he’ll have to seriously consider the other bidder Edison.
I doubt Italy will accept any other FSRU than one similar in capacity to Rovigo’s, which coincidentally was built in Algeria by Qatar Petroleum, ExxonMobil Italiana Gas terminals and Edison SpA.
Even because he knows he can’t afford the terminal, going for a temporary solution using the smallest possible type, Livorno style, will still result shortsighted and EU funding applioes only to connections, not localised infrastructure.
He’s repeating the same mistake, expecting EU funds for storage tanks when Marsaxlokk version 1 had been presented.
Funds will only be made available when Italy lobbies for the FSRU as part of the leg for transmission, and ergo Italy will insist on Edison and consequently supplier.
Excuse my ignorance. Does anybody know from where the story that the BWSC was found on the yellow pages came from?
And that, is what the PN administration was aiming for.
Except the PN relied on 100% usage of the interconnector and the BWSC plant.
Why Muscat wants to add another power station to compensate reduction of interconnector power to 25% has never been explained.
Surely even he can’t be that dumb, duped to build a new plant ghalxejn.
I say he doesn’t even build the power station in the end. He’ll have literally gone back to the PN’s idea in toto.
To be honest, I was thinking of Sargas. Do not know why.
Oh no, not that. Please.
Inconsistency is something in which this government is consistent.
