Eight years ago, Alex Giacomotto was jailed for four years for a similar crime

Today a man of 62 called Alex Giacomotto was jailed for six years for repeatedly raping and involving in other obscenities, while he was a teacher, a boy pupil of his.
The boy was 12 when it began and it went on for four years.
A quick search on his name and the first link that comes up is of yet another court judgement eight years ago, when he was jailed for four years for similar behaviour with another pupil.
The description in today’s report is particularly upsetting. And the headline in Times of Malta is so wrong. ‘Teacher jailed for defiling teenager’. I’m sorry? The boy was 12 when he was first raped, so the headline should more properly be ‘Teacher jailed for raping 12-year-old boy’.

Please don’t tell me this is the same person.
A lecturer in education management? When he’d been jailed for paedophilia offences?
Indeed he is the same person. Likewise he is the same person who for a while taught English to police recruits.
Nonce’s paradise.
So he was allowed back teaching children even though he was a known pervert and a danger to small boys. The people who allow things like this are just as guilty. Deal with them all.
[Daphne – No, he wasn’t allowed back to teach, obviously not. Please bother reading the newspaper reports in the links provided, and while you’re doing so, take note of the dates. Do this before you form an opinion.]
One wonders why there was no reference to the previous case in the article. I was so surpirised that at first I thought that it was referring to the same case until I had another look at the dates and realized that it must have been a different case, of the same perpetrator, since the name could hardly be common in Malta, the person had the same profession and lived in the same area.
So once again, why was all that swept under the carpet?

How come maltatoday.com is now the fifth most popular website in Malta, surpassing even timesofmalta, com? How could any website rise from the 12th to the 5th position in a matter of few days?
The unmoderated comments board, where one can insult anyone who does not agree with this government’s way of doing things.
Here are some samples:

Not enough clear facts yet but I suspect another PN tool to put spokes in the wheel. Anything to ensure labour have a difficult time bringing foreign investment to our shores.

[“If the authorities want it to happen, it will happen. I will not keep on fighting tooth and nail for something I cannot stop,” Darmanin told MaltaToday, two days after raising the matter with the media.]
So why initiate it in the first place?? Did you perhaps hope that now that it’s not YOUR PARTY in govt they will change to rules for you??
By the way, those “high end patrons” of yours…does their shit stink like ours or are they special?? Pompous assholes.

They should check from where the clicks are coming.
He was my teacher back in the 80s (83-86) he tried it on with me but I warned him once that if he tried again I would unleash hell on him.
He tried with other class mates of mine but he wasn’t successful because we were always alert about him.
Did this pervert fail to enter seminary for some reason?
Is this supposed to be a funny comment? It is an insult to all the dedicated priests and hurtful to those who suffered at the hands of the few perverted ones.
Very well said – just stop this hatred towards the Catholic Church.
No one says anything about politicians – even some Maltese ones who have been having affairs, and cheating on their wives, or even vice versa.
That’s 4 years with remission, less if he qualifies for parole.
My ex and her friends were students of his at St Aloysius College, and had somehow sympathized with the man and kept in contact with him.
This would have been around four years ago, when he must have just been released from prison after the first conviction.
At the time, he was good friends with (read hosted him at his flat) an Indonesian teenager of barely 18, who was probably using him for better opportunities in Malta, where he still lives.
I didn’t really know the extent of Alex Giacomotto’s behaviour at the time but he was definitely a disgusting old sleaze.
The authorities should see to this. Pathetic indeed.
I seem to recall that this man taught in both state and church schools and that pupils talked about his tendencies but no action was taken by the administration.
This Alex Giacomotto is from Mdina not Birkirkara and likes to think of himself as a cut above the rest. He also used to teach and lecture at the Police Academy.
This guy used to teach me for two years back in 2000. I guess he didn’t do the same thing to me and my friends because we were horrible pests and he found it difficult to control us during a lesson let alone trying to abuse us.
This perv sounds like the sort of guy that Peppi Azzopardi would make us sob for in one of his junk tv programs.
Another one on the list!
Who are we trusting with our children?
