Law Commissioner defends elderly groper

That should properly have been the headline of this piece, because that, and not the fact that a janitor has been accused of grabbing a girl’s bosom (yawn, yawn), is the real news peg.
Incidentally, will the government please let us know what its Law Commissioner has achieved so far for the money he has been paid for around 15 months now?
Can we have a press conference about it?
Franco Debono is always keen for media attention and I can’t see why he would possibly object.
Meanwhile, a statement has been released saying that this is not a school janitor and the woman he groped was not a student at the college. Both the groper and the groped work with a company contracted to clean the college.

This also brings to light the fact that there seems to be nothing stopping people with a criminal record from working in schools, (hospitals, residential homes etc).
Should we wait for the victim to be a student before we realize this? Now reason tells one that a law commissioner should look into this and into the background check system used in, for example, the UK, to see how our laws can be imporved; such as plugging the hole created by contracting and subcontracting.
The Law Commissioner however is wearing the hat of the defence lawyer. Will he be taking that hat off any time soon?
I doubt the Law Commissioner’s work is worth 2c, so no press conference I’m afraid.

Couldn’t have said it any better, Daphne. Franco Debono is being paid €24,000 per year for being our Law Commissioner on a very part-time basis – what he has done so far (as have all the Labour diehards who got promoted and rewarded) is still a huge mystery.
It is disturbing that people like Franco Debono and all those who have been rewarded are enjoying ridiculous salaries taken from the people’s taxes, and the people seem to be very happy about this, mostly because this government is successfully managing to alienate the people by CONSTANTLY brainwashing it (adverts on every possible means of media, illegal billboards, pamphlets in everyhousehold, etc. – all paid by YOU).
Shouldn’t that be groper and gropee?
