Prisoner suffers massive heart attack and prison officers call GP instead of ambulance

heart attack

Can we not see the real news story contained inside this report from the Courts of Justice? Yes, the court case is about a GP being prosecuted for (and cleared of) involuntary homicide, but the real story is about how – faced with a man of 45 who had been complaining of severe chest pains for 12 hours, the prison wardens or administrators rang a GP instead of an ambulance.

And when they rang the GP, they gave him minimal information that could even be said to be misleading.

The prisoner was then found slumped against the wall of his cell, dead of a massive heart attack.

Instead of prosecuting the people at the prison, the police prosecuted the GP. Is there now going to be an inquiry? Manuel Mallia should tell us.

Its like living in Alice in Wonderland but without the fun.
A topsy-turvy country where right is wrong and wrong is right.

As we say in Maltese hawwadni ha nifhmek.

I am convinced God created the Maltese people for my own personal amusement. I love the deliciously dark humour.

Biex tara kemm huma ttrenjati l-wardens tal-ħabs biex jgħarfu bejn uġiegħ u attakk tal-qalb . Mhux qed ngħid li jagħmluha ta’ tobba, imma għallanqas jingħataw kors tal-ewwel għajnuna għax kieku kienu jindunaw li attakk tal-qalb kien.

If you employ ‘correctional ‘ officers who are illiterate , basic life skills must be way down on the ‘required skills’ !

The first 15 months of this government have turned the whole country upside down. The current media are ineffective apart from you, Daphne.

Sometimes Malta reminds me of that film/book “The Time Machine” by H G Wells.

The government and their associates are the Morlocks and the rest of the people are the Eloi. The Morlocks feed of the ignorance of the Eloi.

Vote Manuel Mallia, get Manuel Mallia.

A girl who had miscarried her baby behind the prison walls was told that she had abdominal pains due to constipation when she complained of the pain.

A male prisoner was also told he was suffering from constipation and again, it was something more serious. This was said during Xarabank some years ago in the presence of the people involved.

This kind of carelessness is not new at the prison.

Is there a medical team at the prison?

When there is a chest pain, any GP would send the patient straight away to hospital, even if the pain is minimal.
