This government’s attitude to the press: ‘guiding’ journalists to ‘agree’ that they will write ‘positive stories’
If there is one journalist who will not take this kind of guidance from any government, it is Times of Malta’s Caroline Muscat, who specialises in environment-related stories.
She has published an email which she received from Parliamentary Secretary Roderick Galdes’s communications officer. Caroline Muscat has blanked out the communications officer’s name, but it’s Sabrina Agius, who was sacked from RTK Radio when it was discovered that she was Joseph Muscat’s mole there and asking him in an exchange of emails on the RTK office computers whether he wanted her services as a mole at The Times instead.
In this email, Sabrina Agius tells Caroline Muscat, “I spoke to Mr Galdes and he says it seems that you had agreed to limit such stories and focus on the positive side of the sector. I will be getting you Jeanette Borg’s contact so that she can guide you to some stories.”

Yep, there it is- the problem with think positive religions all over the world.
They are all based on delusion. You can’t possibly point out any flaws. If you do you get alienated by that company.
But this isn’t a company, it’s a government which has a police force and army to back it up and as it turns out cables to allow them to listen to our phone conversations.
If this is how they treat the independent media, one does not need a lot of imagination to understand what is happening where they have full control.
Positive stories lead to energija posittiva… or the other way round?
This is horrific. It’s also pathetic.
It’s so true that evil is pure banality.
Times of Malta poll today, ‘where to place the Sette Giugno monument’.
They also plonked a box opposite the law courts asking us for our opinion, sheathed electric supply cable running up to the nearest ‘temporary’ fuse box across St.John’s side entrance.
Highlighting the foot note :
Kindly consider your environmental responsability before printing this email .
What is so positive with farmers smearing produce in the field with human faeces?
Is Jeanette Borg the one on Facebook always extolling organic farming and agricultural tours?
Brazen attempt at “mind control” by covert media censorship.
The government should buy Kasco’s services to put up a national audio system and make us listen to Pharrell Williams’s Happy 24X7.
The only country which pracitces and promotes very strongly and heavily Positive Journalism is North Korea. The most positive literature ever to part the shores of that country were Kim il Sung`s ideological scriptures. The rest is hardship and starvation, news included.
“I spoke to Mr Galdes and he says it seems that you had agreed to limit such stories….”
Labour goverment controlling the media. No wonder about the news content in the media.
Where is the anti-censorship lobby now, where are the journalists and their organizations or do they wake up only when a Nationalist Government is in office?
‘Censorship is the suppression of speech or other public communication which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, politically incorrect or inconvenient as determined by a government, media outlet or other controlling body.’ (its from Wiki but it sure summs it up!)
