Who lives in flat 2, Ambjent Complex, between the church and the fire station in Xemxija?

Published: June 7, 2014 at 3:59pm

Two cars each containing four plain clothes police officers/secret service agents/security guards, all of them carrying revolvers, are permanently parked outside a block of flats called Ambjent Complex, which is situated between the church and the fire station on Xemxija hill, where a restaurant called L-Ambjent used to be in the 1970s/1980s.

When the occupant of flat number 2 emerges, gets into his car and drives off, one car containing four armed men follows him closely. The other stays behind near the flat.

Last Sunday at 1.15pm, the prime minister’s chief of staff, Keith Schembri, who has extensive business dealings under the Kasco company name, was seen leaving the flat.

The flat is rented out. The person who lives there is not the owner. I am told that this situation has been going on since last March.

Yes, for about six weeks there have been TWO carloads of police in civilian clothes permanently stationed there taking over from each other in relays, 24 hours a day, a car parked on each side of the narrow entry road to the fire station, each on a different set of double yellow lines.

That is a concentration of police several hundred percent more intensive than that provided spasmodically to the whole village of Mellieha.

It is particularly galling that with such a high concentration of police near the Xemxija church, the home of some people who were hearing mass there was leisurely burgled while the Mellieha Police Station was traditionally empty.

Evidently this is not a Malta Taghna Lkoll in equal measure. Some Orwellian pigs are much more equal than others.

There appear to be several people registered to that flat – or more than one ‘flat 2’.

These names would indicate Hungarian and Dutch nationalities, plus one UK – or USA.

It would not, therefore, seem that any of the people concerned do actually require a Maltese/EU passport, as they would already have one. The USA person wouldn’t care less, at any rate.

I would say there’s more – far more – than meets the eye, in this instance.

I was accosted by a couple of those policemen when I complained in the press about the disproportionate allocation of police near that flat, illegally parked for days on end, when compared with the police protection for the whole village of Mellieha.

I was advised to “inform myself” before complaining in the press. I did not take that advice primarily because I wrote about facts observed by myself. But just as important was prudent circumspection not wanting to risk being charged with interfering with police duties. I’ve been there, before.

      • H.P. Baxxter says:

        Ah, you are wrong there.

The very first passport applicant was a US citizen. He was followed by a number of Italians. All followed, of course, by a crowd of Saudis, Chinese and Uzbeks.

        For tax purposes, see?

      • La Redoute says:

How did the Italian qualify to buy a Maltese passport? Aren’t EU nationals barred from the scheme?

    • AE says:

My guess is that these persons are all registered there so as to satisfy the permanent residence scheme which obliges one to rent or buy property as their primary residence.

Of course they, including the landlord are all in violation of the rules of the Scheme as the same place cannot be the primary residence of all these people.

    Can we narrow it down?

Would our boys in blue provide protection for a foreigner?

  4. bookworm says:

I have been noticing those guards for the past month or so. Sometimes they also stand by the main entrance door to the block of flats. At other times, they wait in the car with tinted windows.

  5. C C says:

They have been there since the last week of March at least. Sometimes I feel like giving the poor sods a cup of coffee or an ice cream now that the heat is on.

  6. Bugi_30 says:

Under this government, the police force seems to exist solely to escort foreign billionaires who buy the citizenship by acting as their bodyguards and to give promotions to Labourite police officers. The same applies to the AFM.

No wonder the boost in criminality these past months.

Sounds like there are three body guards to three main “guests.”

http://www.geni.com/people/Alexandra-Claes/307564 At this site there appears to be a direct family connection between Alexandra Nicole Claes, Lucien Wilfried Claes Gaest and Ashley Alexandra Barnes. It also transpires there is a Maltese connection for Alexandra Claes was born in a Cini family. No matter how hard Joseph Muscat tries to hide identities of prospective citizenship patrons, something as cheap and free as google can always give him away and let him down.
