And the really important news gets buried in a little box in the top left-hand corner of an inside page
The Nationalist Party has drawn attention to the fact that the public service wage bill has increased by Eur25 million in the first half of this year, and that around 1,500 people have been put on the public payroll since the Labour Party got into government last year.
Or rather, it tried to draw our attention to the fact and was largely ignored because we are more interested in Face-Cream Phyllis, Ray Calleja, Willie Mangion and Frederick Testa right now – incidentally, four of the contributors to this upsurge in the public payroll, which has been burdened with Taghna Lkoll bums and losers and with people like Face-Cream Phyllis who don’t need jobs or money but won’t say no to either.
At Eur25 million and counting, this is not a snouts-in-the-trough situation because this is not a trough but a ruddy great Rinella Film Facility tank with all these pigs hoovering it up before they’re slaughtered in 2023, by which time Malta will be bankrupt or totally dependent on ‘injections of cash’ from dictators and despots.

So right, Daphne. People just don’t seem to see further than today. No foresight or common sense. The sad thing is we will all have to pay for their stupidity.
You really think that 18000 switchers will stay with Labour again next time?
Yes. They too will be offered a job with the government. And more than one if they are not happy enough.
Meanwhile, China will provide financial assistance to widen the troughs in a major public infrastructure project.
Daphne, the rise in deficit is truly a serious concern. This government does not want to raise any alarm. Maybe (in economic and political terms) it pays in the short term but I am very sure the country will have to face the consequences, eventually.
Very few people can see this crisis coming. The worse is that none of the politicians from the government side is helping to explain the present situation – except that we are fed with the usual delusion that everything is OK.
I believe that it’s time to hold up for scrutiny the increasing gap in our deficit.
How can we solve problems if the government is denying their existence?
Muscat”s mind is at rest. His Chinese masters will solve all his financial problems.
So much for change eh. The Nationalists that were in power plundered this country to the tune of 5 billion or so. We are already bankrupt in reality so what’s a few more billions. Absolutely disgusting.
Those expecting change should be happy they finally got some. I’m sure they were shocked however when they realised the change they wanted was actually a few little brown coins. Change is change hux.
