I imagine this is the same Khaled Ibrahim Ben Nasan who is Ambassador Mannie’s friend as quoted in Malta Today

He was already in Malta in 2008 and a fellow countryman tried to knife him in St Julian’s.

Oh the irony… Lou Bondi playing the lead in ‘Comfortably Numb’ at the Beer Festival. He couldn’t have selected a more appropriate song.

    • Chris says:

On the Eur54,000 retainer he is on for doing FA (and please don’t tell me about his zilch concert organisational skills), I think he should have stopped after the word ‘comfortably’. And twas ever thus.

    • ken il malti says:

I’ll bet Lou knows the chords to “Weasel’s Waltz”.

    • Ta'sapienza says:

He could have followed with ‘Money’

    • Angus Black says:

      Did you mean, “Comfortably Dumb”?

    • Banana republic ... again says:

The irony was when he played wish you were here too. It was more like wish you NOT here, Lou!

Ridiculous that Gianni and Lou came out to sing and play amongst astonishingly superior musicians and somehow got to play the two most popular songs of the entire evening. What are these people to even steal limelight from humble, genuine and extremely talented musicians?

  2. Patrik says:

Why are amounts still set in Lm. Is that because they are stipulated by laws written before the Euro change?

Oh I know… someone being stabbed, not what to focus on etc. But still.

  3. curious says:

Didn’t Mario Cutajar tell us that the government never mentioned the word ‘abduction’? Have a look at the link that Daphne posted some days ago.

“VALLETTA, Malta — Malta’s foreign ministry says a Maltese man who works for an oil company in Libya has been kidnapped by rebels on the outskirts of Tripoli.

The ministry on Friday said Martin Galea, 42, is a retired Maltese armed forces captain. It said he was abducted on July 17 as he was being driven to work and was taken to an undisclosed location.

Maltese officials were informed of the abduction last week. They said efforts by Malta’s embassy in Tripoli to make contact with the man, a health-and-safety professional, so far have been unsuccessful.”

  4. La Redoute says:

What was that Kurt Farruiga said about Galea not having been abducted?

This wipes the Cameron love-fest off Muscat’s shallow image.

  5. curious says:

After reading the first part of the interview with Martin Galea on The Malta Independent, I have to ask whether doctors at Mater Dei Hospital need to have their eyesight checked.

If nothing else, the newspaper published pictures with sweat sores. And what about the damage done with the nails which Galea was forced to inflict on himself. Were there no scars? How can you come to the conclusion that there is no sign of injury or violence.

Galea himself asked to be examined for any infections he might have caught.

Violence is not only physical but can be emotional and mental as well.

[Daphne – The doctors never said anything to the press or anyone else. Doctors may not disclose patients’ details to anyone, not even to family members.]

    • curious says:

Then Mario Cutajar & Co. should tell us on what they based their statement on. I took it for granted that they had inside information from the hospital.

    • David says:

When Mr Galea emerged fron the plane and in his interview he had no visible injuries. Neither did Mr Galea state he still has any scars he may have had.

[Daphne – David, women who are habitually burned and beaten by their husband/boyfriend have no visible injuries either. They’re covered by their clothes. And do stop mouthing the Taghna Lkoll mantra. You’re better than that.]
