Barroso in court yesterday, on the subject of Dalli’s post-resignation behaviour:
“Politicians resign to be able to clear their name and not to tarnish the name of the institution they worked for.”
And this ranks a close second:
“Dalli said that I would have sacked him if he did not resign. Of course I would have.”
And coming up next:
Barroso: “But I was expecting him to say, ‘This is completely false. I don’t know this Mr Zammit’. On the contrary, he confirmed. He confirmed that this person from bar services was brokering meetings about the Tobacco Products Directive. I couldn’t believe it. What was this thing? In fact he agreed that it was inappropriate.”

We used to say before the onset of this national narcissism:
Kif nohorgu minn Malta, naqghu ghan-nejk
I think that goes for anyone who wears a short-sleeved shirt under a suit, don’t you, Baxxter?
